I changed my mind about the crank bearings, I think Im just going to leave them alone for another season. Got into the bottom end a little today and have to replace the shift shaft since its about 100% stripped and CS seal Its leaking pretty bad.
Any one have any idea what I need to replace if the kick start is slipping? Do I need to replace the whole gear mechanism or can I just replace the gear itself? Never had one do that before. I slips about every third kick for some reason...

Yea I did do a KTM comparisson but I cant find any in my area. The only KTM I would be comfortable purchasing is the new 12' 250SX with linkage. So this is the old 96 that I basically got for free in a trade that I ended up buying back with the cash he gave me for my bike. I figure Ill ride my 08 for one more season and go from there and start the search again next year. Ill buy a new bike when the right one comes around.

Had both PV covers done, head, cs sprocket/ case saver and water pump cover. They came out awesome! He did a hell of a job getting these things smooth because they were absolutely jacked. There were a few very small areas around the bolt holes on the right side PV cover that the powder didnt stick to so I told him not to worry about it and Id just touch it up with some spray paint. Didnt want to over do anything since he did all this work for next to nothing.
Just a tease at what Im doing with the motor, I think the motor is gonna turn out pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

While you have the cases apart, matching the cylinder and cases is well worth the time investment.

Yes, that would be the only thing that I would think that could cause that. Missing a tooth or one rounded off maybe.

Trust me, I know how that goes. I've looked at the KTM's to, but I wouldn't want anything older than 2012.
That powdercoat looks good!! Going with a red with and black color scheme again?

Yea color scheme will stay the same... using sime plastics I already have. Just doing some "extra" stuff to the engine to give it a little personality. I wanna throw just a tad of red in there too, but dont know how to do it without over doing it... probably a few anodized bolts and some minor details. Whatever my buddy can help me out with to keep this thing as cheap as possible. It should look pretty sick when Im done with it.

I need opinions, what color should I go with? I dont want to over do it with the red, but Im afraid white will get stained up too easily. What do you guys think I should go with?

Blue?? It wants to sport some of it's origins.
jk, I would go white. Bleach would probably clean them right up.
