Thanks for the tips guys... I have a very short attention span, esp when trying to figure something out that I dont have a very good idea how to do correctly, so its hard for me to be that patient with stuff like this.

I really do want to figure out how to do this though, seems like it would be very useful knowledge. Wish I had someone to show me the steps rather than read and try to interpret. I think its just really hard for me to comprehend with no visual.

I get the concept in my mind but Im def. having trouble translating that to the rim.

I was the same way. It took me countless hours figuring out how to true mine . Try and evenly tighten all spokes and then make sure the rim is round (radial). if its High in one spot tighten the spokes on the highspots and maybe loosen the spokes on the opposite side. Then start on the axial truing. Making adjustments 3 spokes at a time seemed to work best for me. So if its off to one side loosen one spoke on that side and then tighten the two on the outside or loosen the two on that side and tighten the one in the middle of those two on the opposite side. Also, ignore the spot where the rims was welded. Then once it's as true as you can get it tighten up all the spokes evenly. I used this method when tightening the spokes and it seemed to work well. Brake side inner, nonbrake side inner, brake side outer, and then non brake side outer.

Wheels are trued :smirk:  :bonk:  !!! Took me forever to figure it out, but once I did it only took me about 20-30 mins to get all up and down and side to side play out. I was simply starting with the spokes too tight and working against myself. The looser the better when trying to get them even. Get up and down play out, and then side to side, then worry about tightening. Every 5th spoke works like a charm when tightening as well. Should have tires on and be able to get them mounted on the bike tomm.

Thanks for all the help guys. I would have never figured it out without your help!

PC is absolutely trashed on the nipples but I dont even care. After I get a little money saved up Im gonna grab up some black prowheel spokes and red anodized nipples to complete the wheels, but that wont be till later in the season. Gotta get this thing done so I can take it on my riding trip.

Front wheel is ready to be aired up and mounted. Working on the rear right now, but I stripped one of the rotor bolts getting it out so I gotta run to the hardware store to see if I can find anything similar.

Edit: after looking at the pic I think I need to take some tire shine to that tire (for picture purposes). The baby powder took its toll on the black tire.

Yeah when doing a picture washing the tire is OK with the sweet baby powder, or mount it and get ready to do some dirt. Then washing makes more sense too :bonk: Great job and excellent work so far.

A little more progress... Got the tires on the rims with new tubes, rim locks, and bands then mounted them up to make sure everything was good to go and to bleed the brakes. Fresh Honda pads installed up front and stock in the back and fresh fluid and brakes bled, now I gotta take the front tire back off so I can take the forks off to be revalved. Hoping my JD kit and reed petals show up tomm.

Thanks man, nah I went to the hardware store and bought new ones... replaced all the bolts for both rotors and the sprocket. Are you supposed to use lock tite on the bolts though? I thought I remembered seeing something about that at one point, and the threads on the old ones are red so Im assuming they had it on them. I looked through my Clymer real quick but didnt see anything about it in there, but I may have missed it.

Good deal... thats what I used, but only because thats what I had in the garage. I figured if I wasnt supposed to use it I would just take them back out and clean it off. I do use the blue loctite on just about everything though. Thanks man!

I still cant get over how much better the black rims look on the bike. Ill be replacing all my rims soon! I wanna give the A60s a shot. quick question though, are there specific spokes you have to use for those rims? I saw they have A60 specific spokes when I was looking at the rims. Any idea what thats about?

Oh ok cool, just the first time Ive seen them so I was just curious. I remember you saying you used buchannan on them now that you say that. Ill never re use spokes when trying to true a wheel again unless they are practically brand new after the head ache I went through truing mine.

Thanks man, new graphics are def on the list for the very near future. Just gotta get something together that I like. I like your white and black theme better though. It would look too similar if I went that way though, so I gotta think of something else.

A set of black universal engineering triple clamps would look great on your bike. I got mine for 50$ brand new on ebay. I just checked and didn't see any at the moment, but you should keep an eye out for them.

Yea I was working on getting a set from KJK but they wouldnt accept oversize bars or any adapters that I could get easily so I passed on them. I think Im gonna have the stockers pc'ed or anodized eventually.
