Which type of Doctor do I need to see for this???? Advice greatly appreciated!

For the first time ever, I am experiencing dizziness, "spacing out", nausea, and lack of energy when racing. I get sick after races and fall asleep for 4-6 hours right after the race during daylight. It has started to carry over to my work out sessions. This really has me worried. Sure I am getting older but shoot 37 is not bad! I do not really like going to family docs, as I feel I pay a 100 bucks simply to be sent elsewhere.
So if you guys had suggestions of the specialist type I need to see it would be appreciated. And if any has suffered from this I would love to hear any advice.
Greatly appreciated.........700mx

Several people at my work have had those symptoms and it was due to a virus. They had a relatively mild cold, but it left them with dizziness and nausea. There were times when they couldn't even get out of bed. Whatever it was, it was messing with their inner ear. It took months to get over it, but eventually they did. There wasn't anything they could do other than wait it out. It did sap their energy because they couldn't do much before getting dizzy and nauseous. When that happens, they didn't want to do much. One of the guys got a prescription for motion-sickness medication but that made him drowsy and was only mildly effective.
I understand your desire to only see one doctor, but I wouldn't necessarily overlook the family doc. A specialist would check the basics before doing anything else so you might be making two visits to him. The family doc can check your basics and then (hopefully) share the results with any specialist you might need to see afterward. Also, they don't tend to be so narrowly focused like a specialist. Good luck.

We have one of the riders on the team that experiences the same symptoms as you are describing, but only if he over works himself.
I would recommend a sports medicine doctor or a doctor at a university that works with athletes.
Have a great day, talk to you soon!

What type of physical did you have? As a firefighter I get a class 4 "arduous" which includes a treadmill stress test. If it didn't include that, you may have a hard time finding out whats wrong with you. Good luck and keep us posted.

Symptoms of CFS are similar to those of the flu and other common viral infections, and include muscle aches, headache, and extreme fatigue. However, symptoms of CFS last for 6 months or more.
The main symptom of CFS is extreme tiredness (fatigue), which is:
•New
•Lasts at least 6 months
•Not relieved by bed rest
•Severe enough to keep you from participating in certain activities
Other symptoms include:
•Feeling extremely tired for more than 24 hours after exercise that would normally be considered easy
•Feeling unrefreshed after sleeping for a proper amount of time
•Forgetfulness
•Concentration problems
•Confusion
•Joint pain but no swelling or redness
•Headaches that differ from those you have had in the past
•Irritability
•Mild fever (101 degrees F or less)
•Muscle aches (myalgias)
•Muscle weakness, all over or multiple locations, not explained by any known disorder
•Sore throat
•Sore lymph nodes in the neck or under the arms

Is there any "simple stuff" I could try to address CFS? I tried hydrating my self much more than usual and it did'nt seem to do much.
Thanks again for the help greatly appreciated!

I've had CFS for 20+ years. Got it when I was living in LA. Could barely keep my eyes open at 3pm. It was killing me, and I finally found a great Doctor that believed me lol. We did every test we could do and nothing was much out of wack. I finally asked him if we could try a vitamin B-12 shot. He said sure we've tried everything else lol. I felt like a new man within 2 days. Since then I get 1 every month. After about 3 weeks I start to drag a little. Every so often I put it off for 6-8 weeks and I feel it big time. The vitamins you can buy anywhere are no comparison to an injection, even though the injection dosage is not that much. You just can't compare the two. I would go to your regular doctor and tell him your exhausted and you want to try a b-12 shot. They will probably want to do a blood test and check your red blood cell count, but mine was pretty normal too. You have nothing to lose with a shot. I feel for you it's very hard going thru it.

I was diagnosed with CFS years ago and it turned out to be lyme.
The longer you put it off the harder it is to treat. I had to sell my dirt
bike and move back home to afford the medical bills associated with
the disease.
Check out:

Also try googling lyme disease and CFS.
There are thousands of accounts of lyme being misdiagnosed
as CFS.
PLEASE pm me if you are still looking for answers, I would be happy
to help in any way that I could.
Best of luck,
Mark
