what a brilliant idea, then i dont have to hum to myself. a nomad or something like that wouldnt skip, you could just put it in your pack...., tear apart a set of headphones and glue them in the ear well. i would try creative, see what they have, im pretty sure there is a really small version of the nomad, and ive gone fourwheeling with one of them and it didnt skip from my YJ's suspention.

Yeah there are tons of small MP3 players out there that hold about 2hours worth of music and are about the size of a Cellphone battery. I dont know the names of any but have seen them.

I saw one that mounts one the back of your helmet. It was in one of the mag's but can't remember which one

Travis Pastrana uses one. Apparently they lead to concussions.

I have always enjoyed listening to music and have on occasion combined that hobby with my other favorite (motorcycle riding).
I had a first generation Apple 30 GB IPOD. Fantastic device, super simple to use and they come with the great sounding/very powerful earbud speakers. The unit has an equilizer built right in that you can use for bass boost or other features. They are pricey but are a good investment if you are into music.
The first generation Ipods are nice but are double the thickness and weight of the newer generation. They are about the size of a deck of cards but considerably heavier and I have yet to find another device that has the capactiy and features of an IPOD. There are smaller ones but they are only good for small capacity storage. I could play 24 hours a day/3 weeks worth of music and never hear the same song twice on the 30GB. They are pretty indestructable and the battery life is several hours between recharges. The versatility of the device is remarkable. With accessories you can take your entire music collection with you in a pocket, hook it up to your car stereo(through the radio) or whatever else you can come up with.
Apple now has a 2nd generation 40GB IPOD that weighs alot less than the 1st gen. They are half the thickness/weight and the prices were kept the same as the original IPODs. They have a 10GB, 20GB and the 40GB now. They weigh 5.6 OZ (about the weight of two CDs. They start at $299. No other mp3 player offers as many features as an IPOD and they are the recognized leader in the market. You can choose one which is made to be compatible with MACs or a windows based PC.
Another earbud option is the www.etymotic.com earbuds. They are used by professional muscians and the sound reproduction is fantastic.

I always listen to music while I'm riding/racing especially long desert races. I have a RCA Lyra MP3 with 128mb of external memory(almost 3 hours of music) and the sony wrap around (they wrap around your ear) headphones. There's nothing like a little AC/DC to make you twist the throttle harder

Have you seen the price of this thing?!?!?! $200.00
I got a cheep 32 MB player on ebay for about 35.00 that I clip to my chest protector and wear. It's great for moto, but for longer woods rides more memory would be good idea. Still though 128MB players can be had now for under $100 now and a little piece of velcro will have it stuck to your helmet just like a moto MP3 for half the price.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea?
. I used to love to rock out while riding street on my wing till one night I got to fooling with the sterio and overshot a turn abit causing a minor crash. After that I decided to not mess with the music in situations that require,d me to pay attention. I've never had music while riding off road and I think I'll keep it that way, I.E. I like to ride hard and fast and need to concentrate on what I'm doing. But thats just me???.

I barely hear my own motor over my own screaming like a woman just trying to hold on.
Now ya want me to listen to music
Now ya want me to listen to music

Hey E.G.O. , while I never considered my screaming to myself as womanly???, I do tend to whoop and holler to myself at times, I just thought I was having (TO MUCH FUN!).

Not only that but I use my ability to hear as one of monitoring devices as to the performance of my bike, sound and feel is all you get and I like to use both.
I must admit I do sing alot when riding but if anything sounds wierd or feels funny I shut right up and start monitoring my bike using both sound and feel. No shut off switch or volume to try and find when singing.
It would be cool, it just might not be a good thing.

Creative nomad muvo is about as big as a cigarette lighter and has 32,64 or 128 capacity. The 128 holds around 30 mp3s. I picked one up off of ebay for 70 bucks. Sounds good and seems to be well built. Check out this link. http://www.nomadworld.com/products/MuVo/
