Locks keep honest people honest. They do not *stop* theives.

Insure the bike for more than you have in her or for what a replacement will cost you and don;t worry about it. Keep track of what you leave in/on the machine and if it does get stolen you know you will get a newer, better machine. Period.

even my fiddy is insured

Yep i agree, the only problem is my AAA insurance will not let me insure the bike for a FULL COVERAGE, they said right now since i only have my motorcycle permit and not my actuall M1 license yet (im stilll new to motorcycles in general, barely got my permit about 2 months ago) i can only get LIABILITY insurance for it, so i did that,

kinda sucks cause i do want full coverage, did not know it worked that way.

hi WGW,

i just picked up that same lock and chain, man is that thing a beast, lol, its really massive, and the lock fits perfectly around the fat part of the bikes frame, really happy with it.

how do you like that XENA disc lock alarm?

ive been considering maybe picking up one of those, or just the regular disc lock, does the alarm part work like it should? any battery or other issues with it?

that looks like the XENA XN15, ? thats the one im thinking about getting.

otherwise i will just do what trick_dual_sport mentioned, and just run 2 pad locks through both brake rotors.

Sorry for the late reply. The alarm worked great for awhile, but it's not real reliable. It would just start sounding for no reason. I wound up taking the batteries out and use it just as a disc lock now. It's the XN-14. MInes about 5 years old now so I can comment on the new models. Maybe the alarm is more reliable now.

disc brake lock.. park by the entrance, dont be gone long... ride a crusty XR :bonk:

I dont insure my bikes period. Its more money over time to insure them than to replace them.
that and I pretty much only ride in the country, not really any big cities.
