FMF Q series pipe question

I just installed a FMF Q series pipe on my 99 YZ400 and when I installed it I couldn't use the gasket that is between the head pipe and the silencer. The gasket is the circular one and prevents exhaust leaks at the header/silencer joint. Anybody else put one on and had the same problem or a solution?

I put one on my 00 426. FMF intended that you do not use any gasket and that the pipe is SUPPOSED to seal with the band clamp only.

Well, as you found out it doesn't! I wrapped the end of the head-pipe with teflon tape and then slipped the tail section on and it sealed just fine. Other than that, I will say that I'm very pleased with the "Q" in both noise reduction and performance. Hope this helps!

I agree with you on the sound and the teflon tape is a good idea. It hasn't burned out obviously so I guess that is where I'm headed. Thanks.
