Hello to all the members of the forum, I am new to the forum, I have an 1985 honda xl350r and a 1979 xl75, I live in northern ontario canada, the problem I am having is locating a piston and rings for the 350r, could anyone help me locate a set please, or point me in the right direction, the bike is mint and would be a shame to scrap, I tried wiseco, honda and a bunch of others with no luck, thank you folks.:bonk:

I had the same problem with my xl350r. XLintperformance did have new pistons a while ago, I don't know if they still have them, worth a call. Also keep an eye on ebay, they do come up occasionally.

Heres what I did. My big end bearing was a bit worn, so I fitted an XR350 conrod and big end bearing kit, which allowed me to use a Wiseco XR350 piston, which they still make, also in oversizes as well.

I'm sure you know, the only difference between XL and XR pistons is the pin diameter.

Great bike. Good luck.

Ebay is one place to look. This company lists pistons but I have no experience with the company: http://www.xlintperf...rts.htm#Pistons

I press my thump that you find your piston, in case if not it is possible to fabricate one, (custom made), after a muster like your own, even in the next needed oversize.

Expect higher costs as if you order one which is made in a production run, the costs will be around one and a half to a standard one.

A company that is specialist in custom made pistons: Wahl Spezialkolben in Germany, certainly you will find companys in Canada or USA too.

In 1985, the XL350 and the XR350 shared the same pistons, so this new '85 XR piston kit should fit your XL350. http://www.xrsonly.c...ct/view/id/217/

I sold my slightly used piston on ebay here is Oz, and it was snapped straight up.

Check with the seller of any XR350 pistons that will supposedly fit your XL350 that the pin diameters are the same. Some piston manufacturers mistakenly list their piston will fit the XL when it won't. I know because I got caught.

In '85, the XR and XL350 used the same OEM piston. The '84 XL350 also used the same piston. It shows up on Honda's parts microfiche. The XR's Only 85 XR350 piston should work in both the '84 and '85 XL.

Wiseco does custom pistons, 10 pc minimum though. Maybe cut a discount if they already make the XR piston. Or, if enough people ask for it. They started making clutch baskets for KDX200's because enough people asked.
