Side cover "heat shield" - fell off

.. they weren't too secure when I bought it, first cleaning knocked them off completely.

These are the "insulators" that attach to the right side cover, to protect them from the exhaust heat.

Do I need to replace, and if so, is there a generic, cheaper alternative?

I assume your talking about the silver heat tape????? If so I wouldn't worry about it. If you are concerned you can buy the stuff in sheets and cut it.

I don't remember any such thing on either my 426 or my 450...

Thx. I was also thinking I could just try using 3M77 to glue the old stuff back on if needed. I'll ride it a bit and see if the plastic gets warm. I have an aftermarket exhaust on it.

I don't remember any such thing on either my 426 or my 450...


It's on the fiche for my '99, as well as the 02 426 and 05 450 (the two years that I just checked)..
