Yep all fixed - I was adjusting the wrong way. After riding this weekend I will be changing the springs to engage at low rpm. The EXP engages at higher rpm than the old Rekluse Pro I had on my last bike. I prefer the lower engagement, especially for engine braking downhill. Once you get used to them you will never go back.

I'm getting to much freewheeling going downhill as well, works great on mx track but not on nasty offroad situations. My understanting is the friction disk comes with 3 blue springs and 3 gold and is considered the medium setting. Optional extras in kit are 3 more blue and 3 more gold (blue = LOW, Gold = High). I assume you would swap one side out to blue for a combination of all six being blue for less freewheeling? Lever is adjusted to 10mm freeplay at lever and am getting the 1/8th" + movement when reving to 5k. Is this correct Corkster?

I have the new tank. Got the first clear one off the line. It fits great. Easy to put on and looks good. Only hard thing is getting water in the radiator is damn near impossible. I recommended It. A note use a torque wrench on the fuel pump bolts.

I would love to see a picture of it on your bike.

Has anyone tried the new IMS 3 Gallon tank? How is the fit and installation?

Purchased the natural color which I am not to happy with but everything else is great! Put it on last night without a hitch. Took me a couple hours because I was taking my time. Was going to wait for the radiator gaurds, but I guess their a month or so out...

I pulled the trigger on a new Husqvarna. It was more a dealer issue then a bike issue over the Yahmaha. I am having fun with it so far. Good luck to all the blue riders out there with their 2012s.

That was the other bike I was looking at. Give us an update or pm me about it if you don't mind.

Is there a "release date" for this bike, in US ?

Already got mine, sat in the garage for a month because of race schedules (no time to prep) and finally took it out this past week. Great bike except for the fuel capacity. I'm going to be talking with IMS to get the larger tank.

PS, it goes well through the creeks, but it doesn't operate well as a U-Boat. I dropped it in one of the creek crossings and it sucked up a fair amount of water before it died. I pulled the tank and the spark plug and stood it up on the back wheel and cranked it over until water stopped coming out and reassembled it. Had to ride it about 20 miles back to town so the oil looked like milk when I got back but there really wasn't much I could do. Drained and changed the oil for the next day's ride and everthing seems to be in order. One note though. Next time I'll pull the oil filter and run it for the day without it. I think there was a bit much of the sludge in the filter and it probably would have been better without it than with it. Got back home the next day and changed the oil again, everything seems to be fine.

Should be no play at idle and 3mm when revved. Can't remember the spring colours but it is in the set-up guide.

Because it's not WR, it's too fragile for the extra weight, it rev's too quickly for enduro use, and it's too new.

The new WRF FI engine is based on the Quad YZF 450R, not the 2009 YZ450F.

And there is really no where to put the exhaust pipe, that space is taken up by the airbox/battery. Though, obviously if you turned the cylinder around you would have the airbox under the fuel tank. Of course that means you now have less room for fuel... See where I'm going? It really wouldn't work out.

Does the damper reduce the head shake. Mine has got some bad head shake after 50 mph

I havent noticed any head shake at all. Even before the dampener. Are you getting just a sight wobble or the death shake at speed. I run my bike over 75 with no issues.

Look for the new August issue of Dirt Rider..... they finally have a head to head comparison of the new WR against the 450 XC-W, Beta 450rr, and Honda 450X. They absolutely bitch slap the WR, with 6 out of 7 test riders picking it dead-last.

They have a couple of valid points in the article.... first, they hate the non-hydraulic clutch. They complain about the "stiff pull"... I say... "grow a pair"! The clutch pull is not that difficult, but I have noticed the clutch actuation point fades like a mofo when you're riding it really hard. Definitely a possible future upgrade for me. Second, they despise the starting, and I have to agree. Although I have mine figured out most of the time, it doesn't like to re-start after a long period of hard riding... and there are just far too many people complaining nation wide about the starting issues... Yamaha needs to figure this out.

They spend far too much time talking about the 11 pounds more that the WR weighs over the KTM... and they go as far as saying the WR "feels heavy"... huh? Did they even ride this thing? Definitely the first publication I've read from any country on planet earth that says the WR "feels heavy" when riding it.

Dirt Rider just keeps up their love affair with KTM once again. I ride with ALL KTM guys, and yeah they might be able to crawl at low speeds better than me through the real nasty stuff, but when it comes to open desert riding or single track forest trails, not a single one of them can keep up with me on the new 450. Thats all I have to say about that.

getting more than a wobble but not a death shake. Everything seems tight. Do you have a guess on what could be causing

It

Do you have your sag set correctly. I had a little shake the first couple of rides and the stock sag for my weight was about 80mm. Once I set it at 100mm it hasn't shook since.

My 2012 finally arrived, serial number 0000000000007.

I popped the necessary parts in an installed a spare set of plastic I had for my 07. The rear fender was identical. 2 of the front fender bolt holes didn't line up, so I filled the existing holes with a hot glue gun and redrilled using the 2012 fender for a template. The rad shrouds were completely different so I simply tied them on with wire.

Installed the new ski.

I built a new set of spiked tires so I mounted them and popped them on.
