Hmmm, I think it's in your head. I have a powercore on my '08 and to me it sounds the same as a buddy's '08 that has the 4.1. I think the power core 4 sounds pretty nasty.

Dude, just get the PowerCore 4.... wicked sound and performance for a great price.

Okay one PowerCore 4 coming right up. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.

A big U.S. based magazine finally did a decent test and write up on the WR. I got this in the mail last night, but here's the article online. Doesn't really say anything new though.

Is the body the same as the 12 yz250f, other than number plates? I mean shrouds and fenders. I could not tell by the part numbers on yamaha website.

Would love to make this baby white/silver/red/black this summer.

I would imagine the shrouds and front fender are, but the rear fender is probably specific to the WR due to part of the electronics being encased by the WR fender. Still, there are plenty of places to get white fenders. White and black are usually not a problem...........old school yellow is a problem.

My dealer absolutely refuses to touch anything on the bike that will affect the green sticker status, hence I can't get my ecu mapped. I don't have a tuner and don't know anyone here as I just moved.

Hello everybody, this is my first post. I don't want to be a dork but I'll introduce myself. I'm an ex roadracer trying to properly get into off roading. I've been divorced for a couple years and it's time to do some just for Daddy fun stuff. My Dad has a DRZ 400 that has been in my garage for the last two years and at my disposal. I think he must have scared himself on it or something because he is the last guy to ever... Well I'll just say that I started paying for my own stuff since I was sixteen. I put tires etc... on it but it's like riding Maverick's Ninja 600 through the woods. So I said F it and I'm picking up a 2012 WR450 next week. The dealer said the GYTR pipe is on back order until the middle of July. I gave them the part number for the throttle stop screw (91317-05008) from this topic and they said that was a swingarm part number. Does a guy really have to go to the hardware store and and grind off bolts to be able to whale it wide open?

You might be dealing with knuckleheads at the shop. The exhaust should be the same as the FMF Power Core 4, you can prolly find it elsewhere. I would give Service Honda a call for the throttle stop. They may have it for the new WR or it may be the same as the YZ part.

It just amazes me how many crappy dealers there are out there. I feel blessed. This is my 5th WR and my dealer has always done all the free mods before it goes on the floor at no extra charge. They even let me borrow the programmer over the weekend to play with it.

The throttle stop screw that is factory installed is tamper proof, it is a hex with a pin in the middle to prevent a standard hex from slipping in. The replacement screw does not actually stop the throttle as on the older WR's, it simply plugs the hole to keep dirt out when you take the original screw out. There's a bump stop on the carb body and one on the wheel that the cable turns, and they bump together at full throttle. The new screw doesn't make contact, so you could cut the old one without worrying about getting the correct lenght.

Throttle closed, you can see that tabs are apart -

Throttle open you can see the tabs touching, they are the throttle stop.

Mine flat out refuses to start cold with the button. 3rd or 4th kick and it lights up though. I got a full FMF system for an 06 to 09 yzf and it bolted up like magic. Sounds nasty too.Any custom tunes yet BB?Runs like a dream at this altitude and temp with the baseline FMF exhaust map.Once I get it running.Old and wise dude said one of those Shorai batteries may be the ticket.

Guys! Went riding with my friend yesterday and he had just picked up a brand new wr450f 2012. We removed the stupid throttelstop and the "peeshooter" in the exhaust. But, is there an electronic low rpm rev limiter with a timelimit? It doesnt rev much at all! maybe 4.5-5k. then it misses like a revlimiter. Exactly at the same rpm everytime nomatter how you ride it. &%$#@!?!

Anybody ran into this problem? Comp ECU and complete exhaust will arrive at the beginning of the week.

Without Power Tuner the Comp ECU and exhaust will be useless.Need Power Tuner to program ECU with competition mapping

The bikes here in sweden comes with the exhaust and comp ecu. (not installed, on the side) so the comp ECU has the exact same mapping as the stock one? Tha base map, before you alter it with the tuner. What about the 4.5-5k rev limiter? The certificate that came with the bike states 9 something kW at 5000 rpm. with the throttle stop removed and opened up silencer it runs pretty good until the limiter kicks in... ALOT more then 9kW but it doesnt rev more than 4.5-5K...

Try turning up the idle - not a complete fix but improves things a bit.
