This post is all about one on one training. I stated what you told me that you don't teach "one on one" riders below a "B" class. I never said you didn't teach them in a class. I am not interested in a class but as stated a one on one.

When I was in your backyard you lead me to believe that your stepson has skipped scheduled lessons several times. You even said at 30 he needs to be more reliable and keep the customer informed. One time I don't think so!  Either the case he is working under Gary Semics MX school and giving it a bad name. Question for, why did you not try to fix what David messed up? You didn't even offer to train, make sure I was given a lesson or if I ended happy.  I tried to reschedual with David for about two months before I gave up. Again very limited communication and I finally requested my deposit back. Gary who sent me my deposit back????

My experience with your school is bad. Not reliable and very unprofessional. You don't like it sorry but you had every opportunity to fix it but you just brushed me off. Now you are trying to save face because it's on the web. Flip flop, flip flop, flip flop!

Ooooooooooooooooooo. People are mad at gary semics! This is unexpected. But I hear ya. I'm sorry to say this, but I called his step son, and sent him 2 e-mails, but he never got back to me. Gary semics himself seems reliable, but David needs to check his messages more often or something.

I don't mean to give your scool a bad rep Mr.Semics, but you should let ur nephew know that he needs to get on the ball, and start being a little more professional by actually getting back to people when they want to speak with him. AND GUYS, I'M NOT SAYING TO KNOCK GARY SEMICS' SCHOOL, CUZ HE DID TRAIN RYAN VILLOPOTO AND A BUNCH OF OTHER PRO'S!

I e-mailed Gary about a month ago to see if he put on any mx schools in AZ. He responded back within an hour to unfortunately tell me he did not teach schools here. However, he did provide me with the information for who did and even responded to a couple other questions I had after this e-mail. Its unfortunate if his stepson occasionally forgets to call people back and I would imagine it puts gary in a difficult situation, maybe that is why they always say you should not do business with family. However, there is always two sides to a story and I would be interested to hear how you approached the situation when you found that David was not going to show up; if you were yelling and upset I wouldn't blame him for not offering a makeup class or wanting to do business with you, if you were cordial though I would find it dissapointing that he did not try and right this problem.

Either way, I do not really agree with outting someone on the internet without somehow proving that you had made attempts to get in contact with them via all communication lines. Hopefully you got this sorted in the end.

My intention was to find a reliable source for training. How I found out David wasn't showing up is when he didn't show. I tried to reschedule but after one email from David he quit responding. Gary did refund my deposit but nothing from David. I have been nice all thru this but don't call me a liar just to look good on the internet. Best thing that could have happen is Gary to step up and train my son. Not because my son is a pro but because that would be the right thing to do.

I honestly don't think it's Gary's responsibility to offer to personally train your son. It was his nephew that messed up, not him, plus, he gave you your deposit back. I see why you're upset, but I think that you all (me too) should stop talking about this, cuz it's making the man's business look bad. Gary himself didn't do anything wrong, but now you know not to get a lesson from his nephew again.

Its a business and Gary runs it. Regardless if the lesson is with Gary or not the responsibility in the end is on him. Glad Gary did the right thing and gave him his money back, but he may need to take a look at who he employs even if it is a family member.

You're right however as a small business, keeping your customers happy is a must. Being a labor , word of mouth business, missing the labor part will only bring bad word of mouth. In this business labor is 100% controllable!

Tech 707? And ur not saying something mean this time? I'm surprised, but I gess I should cut the s*** myself. I don't need to stay mad at anyone this long. But I agree with you. If a member of my family wasn't doing their job, I'd hire someone else.

There is a big difference between calling someone a liar and asking them to provide facts. I decided to post because I was impressed with Gary's responsiveness and willingness to help, especially when he didn't stand to make any money off of me.

I have purchased all of his volume 3 DVDs and the amount I have learned from those is unreal. I was actually so impressed that when I visit my in-laws in Dublin Ohio I am going to ship my bike out there and try to take a group class.

Can I ask why you are opposed to letting your son take group classes?

I feel my son will pick up more with one on one vs. a group. I know many other riders that have taken Gary’s classes. Most said one on one would be better for the first time and bases on my son’s skill level. These riders are top in their class and been to LL several years. When my son’s skill level grows then group classes are a better option. Group training is better than no training at all!

I see. It sounds like you have done your research. I took a 1 on 1 class locally and the amount of information I got was overwhelming. That is when I thought a group class would be better for a beginner to intermediate rider. You only need an instructor to explain a technique, then show you and then answer any questions. After that I would have to try the technique for a while so I could understand it and then ask any questions I had. The instructor had a lot of free time waiting on me and could have easily taught 6 other people. In my eyes it would have been better to take multiple group classes over time so that what I learned had a chance to sink in while I practiced those techniques I learned at the track.
