Need Carb Advise 2004 WR450

Recommended Posts

side plate where the throttle linkage is located?

The throttle slide is made up of multiple parts; the parts in question: the slide, the slide plate, and the slide plate seal. The plate is designed to 'float' in and out, depending on vacuum pressures. When the seal fails, the plate stops floating, and stops sealing. You get a lean condition that is intermittent as the plate seals and UN-seals back and forth. The seal is fragile, and needs replacing once a season or so. The plate can need replacing too, if it shows through to bare metal.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should just pull the carb off and rebuild it and make it right. What a good rebuilt kit for this carb? The bike is a 2004 WR450F

i've never seen a rebuild kit for these carbs and i just went through my entire carb last november.

from yamaha, any of the parts would be ordered separate (and none of them cheap)

perhaps there is an aftermarket supplier for a "rebuild" kit but i don't know of one. I think you will just end up buying the seals you deem need replacing individually.
