Some States have implemented dirt bike registrations that allows non DOT bikes to be plated.

I'm really interested in the ossa. It would supplement my beta evo nicely. The only concern I have is the gear ratios. I would not want trials gear ratios on a trail bike.

Both the Enduro and Explorer will be in Canada when they become available.

cheers

You sound like you are in the know? Are you saying there will definitely be two new models? I like what I see in the Explorer but a slightly more "enduro" version sounds cooler.

Oh. I saw that mentioned but I chalked it up to a poor translation. Two new bikes to choose from would be cool! We'll see in about 14 days...

Clipped from the press release... "The new Explorer from Ossa will be in the EICMA Show, which will take place in Milan from the 8th to the 13th of November. Ossa will also use the event to present their new Enduro model. These novelties represent a new stage for the brand of the shamrock, which invested private funds to produce these models."

I just did some checking around on prices. The OSSA site says that the Explorer will be 5,900 Euros.

The 2011 TR280i sells for 6,640 Euros. It's $8495 here in the States.

Explorer ~ $7548 ???

I see the Canondale engineers finally found a new place to work.

That is one weird looking bike. I hope it is crazy good.

Just looked up the KTM. At a claimed 218 pounds it weighs the same as a 250 2t mx bike. The Ossa should be in the 170 range at the most.

Being a 2t there is no way the Ossa will be street legal in the U.S., plus it would cost way too much for such a small company as Ossa USA to get it approved even if it could be.

my KDX220 is street legal here in AZ i dont see why the ossa wouldnt be?:busted:

I was of course talking about a bike that is sold as a street legal bike and is 50 state legal. I know you can get basiclly anything steet registered in AZ.

Why are the brake rotors so small on the Ossa explorer? For someone who tends to drop bikes a bit on single trails 74Kg weight sound fantastic compared to 138Kg for my DRz 400. I would like to know when available and how much this would be in Australia? In Victoria Australia we have what they call recreational rego for off road bike that gives you accident cover etc and basicly any two wheeled bike with a headlight and tail light has rego for light traffic regional roads.

I am begining to doubt that this bike and it's enduro brother are going to make it into production.

Can't see Ossa being able to attract the investment needed to produce two new models, set-up a dealership network, and provide spares and service facilities, whilst Europe is in financial crisis.

I really want one of these bikes, but I am also looking at the KTM 350 Freeride.

Perhaps I need to be more patient !

people said the same thing about the ossa trials bike, and they were wrong, you can buy them in the US, not many dealers but it's a low volume brand anyway, so that's not surprising

I really hope it makes it into production. There's whole emerging market for these bikes that is yet to be tapped. The KTM freeride looks sick, but it weighs more than my xc250 so unless it's plated, what's really the advantage (besides noise and fuel range). They could also make a super light 2T model.. that would be pretty dope as well, but unless it's under 175lbs.. might as well stick to the XC range.

Please OSSA, if you are reading this, make this bike... and give it super-pimp suspension so we can huck with it! I'll buy one if you do that, you have my word.

The only thing with the Ossa explorer is the front guard so close to the tyre, I would rather see it located like a enduro bike. This is on my to buy wish list, cant wait to drop it and only have to pick up 74Kg

I'd like to confirm that the rear wheel is tubeless, if so it's good to go.

i still wan to know:

will it have the same suspension as the 280i?
what will the gearing be?
what will it look like with all the lights, etc off..

and maybe some video of it in action might be nice as well. For now it seems to be little more than vapor-ware.

I'm very interested though, except for the fact there's no dealer here which might make the FI repair/flashing a bit difficult.
