I'm guessing many of you have seen this (more photos on lewisport which is where i heard about it) but i wanted to share.

http://www.advrider....ad.php?t=731793

wonder if it will be street legal usa and what gear ratios are... could be an awesome fit between true trials and grosser.

exciting times!

I certainly hope they do stay around as a company and built/ import a bike like this. I know I would purchase one for my wife to ride, me to borrow, as soon as they hit the market.:ride:

Would you really purchase your wife a $9,000 motorcycle? Lots of guys where interested in T-Rides for their wives until they found the price.

November Dirt Bike has a Trials Test article on the new OSSA TR280i, looks like the basis for the pics posted by the OP.

Can't say I'm too impressed, I sure hope this stays as a cad drawing and that they design a new full sized enduro bike with the 280i engine configuration.

I paid $5K for the one she has now and doesn't ride.. so Yea, $9K for one that is road legal and I can use around town.. Yes. I figure it as two bikes in one... although I think the $9k is a bit high when compared to other bikes of similar size/ design from other companies.

NEW OSSA EXPLORER

The spirit of the old model from the seventies returns renovated with the latest design and technology

An extremely comfortable bike to enjoy excursions in the mountain

In response to the wishes of motorcycling enthusiasts, Ossa launches an extraordinary model: the new Ossa Explorer 2012. Inheriting the spirit of the legendary Explorer presented in Paris in 1972, the new bike from Ossa maintains its philosophy: A comfortable and very light bike, easy to ride and designed to enjoy both the mountain and the city.

The designers from Ossa approve the new model, which will be in production in Girona as from February. This model will take advantage of the innovative features of the TR280i, such as the two-stroke injection engine and the chassis. A style of bike that is not found in the market; a combination of a Trials and an Enduro bike. It has a bigger seat and offers fun, safety and comfort, together with amazing handling sensations and inexpensive maintenance. With its ISS Injection Start System, it uses a lithium battery to allow for a precise and easy kick start.

For sale in Spring

The motorbike is scheduled to be distributed in Europe as from March, and in a second phase, Worldwide.

Entirely made in the Ossa Factory in Girona, the new Explorer brings high technology to a new concept of bike “We know the Explorer is an eagerly awaited bike among Ossa and motorcycling enthusiasts. Apart from a clear tribute to the history of the brand, with this bike we wanted to integrate a high level of technology in this model. Consequently we maintain the philosophy of a bike prepared for two riders, but technologically and aesthetically, it is on a whole new level. This is our proposal for those who want to have fun, enjoy the mountain, those who love trials and enduro but also feel like going for a comfortable ride”, says Joan Gurt, Director of Ossa Factory.

OSSA launches new bikes

The new Explorer from Ossa will be in the EICMA Show, which will take place in Milan from the 8th to the 13th of November.

Ossa will also use the event to present their new Enduro model. These novelties represent a new stage for the brand of the shamrock, which invested private funds to produce these models.

KTM looks interesting, but still a porker compared to the OSSA. Maybe KTM will come out with the hardcore version of that bike - a DI 2t would be cool.

Such as the KTM already mentioned. Beyond that it falls to the lessor choices made by Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, etc. Those are not choices I like or I would have one already, but they are the only alternative unless a person gets lucky and can find an old GG enduro. Or perhaps a long ride kit, but those are not quite the same. That's why I would like to see this bike here in the US, there is not much that compares.

I wonder how that would fare in an EnduroX race

Thats a very good question - I'll bet KTM would get it classified as a trials bike though.

You would definitely have to change tires.

The pro's go so fast that they want full on race bikes. It may help the less skilled amateur riders though

Just looked up the KTM. At a claimed 218 pounds it weighs the same as a 250 2t mx bike. The Ossa should be in the 170 range at the most.

Being a 2t there is no way the Ossa will be street legal in the U.S., plus it would cost way too much for such a small company as Ossa USA to get it approved even if it could be.
