gearing

i was wondering if anyone out there that races motocross-amateur changes the gearing?
if so front or back..both?

Good question. This got me to thinking...and I think I will change my front sprocket. The tracks I race on don't have any fast straight-aways. I don't recall ever getting above 4th gear...and frequently needing a lower first and second gear. Going from a 14 to a 13 tooth should let me know if this is the way to go. Thanks for sparking my brain.
