see if you can find a 00 cable, i know the ends a little smaller on the mikuni cable, but not sure if it would be causing your problem

Thanks man i will look into it. but it fit in the top slide like a champ what it seems to be is the slide is having alot of pressure with the bike running and pulling air and forcing the slide to the back side of the carb.? But than again its a precision part and that should not be the case!! idk haha

I have still been working on the bike and will get updated pics before the big crash on Sunday. I was having a great day with fast consistent lap times and on my last lap of the sessions i swapped out in the roller / whoop section of the track going about hmmm 4th taped haha. i hit a square edge bump and it was over from the get go. I smashed my Tibia real good and will get some prior and post pics of bike and me. Have a good day everyone!!

Before new finder and some new oem brake parts!
Posted Image After i like the look of the red seat cover and white fender with some new graphics she will look better i think though. well till i wrecked her really bad so new front fork rebuild and bars levers and bottom triple tree. I have at least 4 months to work on it and make it new again. But the frame has a nice dent in the head stay so i am not shore if i should re-place it or let it be. Any help is very welcomed by the way. (also those little auto bleeders will break off and fill up with dirt if you crash hard so not worth the time just to leave the stock screws in!!! or find shorter ones idk)

Posted Image

And now this is why i will not be riding for the winter months...
Posted Image
Roller/whoops 4th gear taped with a little controlled sway going on till a new square edge bump showed up from a line that i was not used to. Right tibia got caught in between the forks and the frame so when the bike crashed i kept going the the force snapped it. Btw i did have a neck brace, Tcx pro 2.1 boots and evs rc8 knee braces on. I don't risk it with out that gear its a life saver only god knows how bad it would of been with out it...

This is about 4 weeks into the healing process. I will tell you that the whole thigh cast thing sucks so bad and i truly wish no one has to go through it. I know i never want to again. Also this is a x ray of my leg 2 months after the crash pretty nasty one if you ask me. (p.s i was sleeping in the picture by the way)..

As for getting the bike ready again i have purchased new oem bottom clamps with bearings and aftermarket fly racing top clamps. 3 new air filter, and a graphics set of ebay.com that was to my knowledge the new Honda of troy set like on Daren Durhams bike last season. But the seller sent me some old as Honda of troy ones from 2003 or some shit. Well i complained slightly and he refunded me and told me to keep them if i gave him good feed back. So what the hell Free is Free and that i think makes them look better to.

Im not to happy with the look but the seat cover is worth it by it self so so griper compared to stock or the read one i had on earlier in the session when i crashed. I also found that the rear sub frame is bent...... As of now all i need is a new right radiator and a subframe (if i don't bent the one i have back..) we will see though. I have time as i still walking with crutches so no riding for awhile.

any tips or trick to make this bike better than it is let me know i am all ears. I plane on taking the cylinder head off this week and DE-gumming the PV and doing a port clean up just to clear up the casting flaws and smooth out the intake tunnels. I also am dong the Power Valve Mod that Crazycid posted about where you shave 1 to 2 mm of the butter fly valve to let the PV set lower for more initial bottom end.

Don't hate to hard on the graphics haha :bonk: :smirk:

Posted Image

Bent Sub frame  i took every thing off and checked the tire will not clear the silencer when compressed now. It dragges badly. Damn :bonk:

Posted Image

I now she is a little dusty she has been setting for 3 months...... I am detailing her now so more info and pics to come later on this week!!

Dang, hope you get better.  Not sure about your frame but they do make smaller fork bleeders.  Bike looks real good, I will try to post a pic of mine. Have you fixed the bike yet?

Damn this is one hell of a thread!!! I definitely did not expect it to take all of the turns it did. I'm no racer, just got back my old 98 cr250 and rebuilt and restored her mechanically and cosmetically...I will say that I have the motion pro fork bleeders that are much smaller than those you have. I believe mine were about $20 also. Sounds like you are doing all of the right things to heal and progress the bike back to racing...I'm sure it's a bummer though. I broke my leg skating when I was a kid. Same exact type of fracture, full leg cast, wheel chair the whole 9, and I completely agree with you. Hope no one has to go through that one, but hang in there. The 1 thing you've got is TIME, to heal and resurrect that badass bike, and for the record, I think those graphics are gnarly as hell! I need to buy a bump seat or try and make one...How did you make one, or did you just buy it?

Ok so heres a couple pics of my cr, its still the same except I scored a almost bran new set of stock silver rims off of an 06 crf450.  BTW I like your seat, and you mentioned something about making the bike better, well if you ment power then go with a cylinder port that thing will be much closer to the 450's.

Thanks so much! I made the bump seat i wish you would taken more picture of when i made it. I used a halve of a 7/8th bar pad and trimmed to to my liking. Found out where by butt would be when i seat bounce and glued it on and put a heavy amount of duck tape on to secure it from all angles i also used a heat gun to help the seat cover mold over and fit correctly. Yeah the leg is a bummer but i know i will come out a faster rider from it haha!! I am also gong to look for the shorter bleeders but that is on the back order list till i can start work again. Mom and Dad are helping with gas while i go to school so that leaves me with no extra cash at all. Thanks for the reply looking forward for more!! have a good one.

Nice bike that is the look i am going with when i get everything back online with work and me riding i love the all read plastics. It funny that on my 125 i had the exact same graphics as you.! They always looked good. I love the black rims did you paint them or buy? excel or warp 9 ect. Yes i am defiantly gong to port the head and one day soon do the RB head mod. I think with the gp piston, fmf shorty silencer, ported cylinder, head squash mod (rb designs), and a boyson rad vavle ported also will give me way more power than i will need. To be honest i really don't need any more as i'm such a light guy. 135lb. So the porting and rc valve mod is free i will see how it runs with those first and go from there. The big thing on my mind is a bigger front Rotor from crf racing and a stainless braided line. I am going to attempt to heat the pipe to roll the 2 small dents out. we will see i will do more work to this bike Friday and Saturday day. Expect a lot more pictures !!!

That bike is effing uber sick...My 98 is just like it except white/black instead of red/black. You're crazy for buying silver wheels over the black. Black owns. Are those excel rims? I have the black front wheel, I just need a rear.

Okay cool, I figured you made your own. I want to put a bump in mine but I want it to get taller and stay taller all the way to the rear, basically like a step up pad, so I'll have to figure something out. I just put a new seat cover on, so it'll be a while before I do that one. It was my first time doing a cover and was a PITA. I am in the same boat with $$ right now...I do landscaping, so the rest of this month I am barely surviving but as soon as grass starts growing, so will I. Can't wait to deck my bike out this summer, although I just got done rebuilding it mechanically and cosmetically...but gonna get a hydro clutch, better graphics, all kinds of stuff.

Best of luck tho! Keep us updated!

Griffin

Thanks for the compliments, lets keep this thread going.  Forgot to mention that I have 07 crf250 suspension and it does handle and turn much better than my stock stuff,  just deciding on whether to have the cylinder ported.  Yeah those are excels but to be honest with you they came off of a crf450 that I bought and are pretty beat.  Plus my buddy bought a very low hour 04 cr250 and it looked so cool just bone stock!  BlackCr, where abouts do you live in TN? I ask because for the last 5 years or so I've been wanting to move to Nashville and am really itching to pull the trigger soon, haha.

You know it's funny you say that I figured they were "well used", just by trying to look closely. It's funny how the grass is always greener on the other side. When you have 1 thing, you want another...Haha rarely does someone get a bike and just think it's perfect. Same goes for all types of things though. As of right now I have a black front and silver rear. Can't wait to get that rear wheel.

Yes I live in Memphis, so about 2.5-3 hrs away from Nashville. Been there plenty of times. Pretty clean city, great music presence, great feel. Many a memphian has moved out to nashville or east TN due to 1 reason or the other regarding memphis. I've often said that memphis isn't even really a part of TN, I swear as soon as you start heading immediately east of memphis it just gets more and more beautiful, better and better. My ideal place would be knoxville up in the smoky mnts. It's a great place to be (Nash) tons of great looking gals, great town! Plenty to do and beautiful, plus you're in middle TN so knox on one side or the blues city on the other (memphis)
