Just went and picked up my newest toy, brought home a TE300, so far after a short ride around theback yard trail all i can say is AWESOME BIKE.. i really missed the two stroke smell and feel,so much lighter feeling than my EXC 530. the only thing it needs are some wrap aound hand guards and a head/tail light set-up, later on maybe some stiffer springs for my weight and Z-start auto clutch.. can i just say AWESOME BIKE  one more time:ride:

mckinny,

I have been wanting a 2012 KTM 300 XC-W but cannot find one anywhere.  Then I found out about the Husaberg TE 300 wich seems to be a blue 2012 KTM 300 XC-W. There is a local dealer that has 3 of them in stock. They are a new Husaberg dealer and could not answer my questions. How familiar are you with these two bikes, are they the same with the exception of the closed cartridge fork on the TE?  And may I ask what you paid OTD? I am ready to buy one of them, they sure look better than the KTM version.

Actually the TE300 is based on the 2011 300xcw not the 2012. The 2012 has the newer style frame.

i'd hold out for the newer frame, i heard it handles so much better than the old ktm frame. Friend of mine just bought a 2012 ktm 250, another friend has a 2011 te300, he took the ktm out and says it amazing.

I have the 12 Te 300 also, Awesome bike, I love it! Beware when ordering the light kit, the headlight kit for a 11-12 XC-W will not fit, the front plastics are the same as an 07 KTM. I just ordered the Husaberg headlight and it fits great. Tried everyhting to get an EE light kit to fit for the last model KTM, but it was a no go.

Also got heavier springs from racetech, it really helps and I love the way it handles, however I was unable to get a rear yellow spring, I had to go with orange, it doesnt look bad, but it doesnt look great either.

Good luck with the new bike, I know I love mine!

The frame is an 10 XCW, the gear box is the same a 11/12 XCW, The forks are the same as an 11/12 XC, front fender is a 07 KTM. The fuel tank and shrouds are Husaberg, the rest of everyhting is KTM most of the bike has KTM stamped parts on it.

I am a quick trail rider and not a racer, I couldnt tell the difference in handling between the new linkage suspension and the PDS. If you look at the recent race results you will see the new TE 300 seems to finishing very well.

If you factor in the MSRP, skid plate, mapping switch, Billet triple clamps with offset, I feel the Berg is a better deal, if you feel like the new frame is not a must have.

That's funny because my friends 2011 300xcw frame is identical to my TE300. It's also still a KTM tank but the sides have been remolded to fit the Berg side shrouds.

Does anyone know if the Berg got the 12' starter?  I heard they were updated and also have a stater that puts out more wattage.

Thats because 2011 xcw didn't get the new frame.

I know it didn't, my comment was in reference to someone saying the TE300 frame was a 2010 frame not the 2011 300xcw. But in actuality the 2010 300xcw and 2011 300xcw frame are the same.

Im really not concerned which frame it has as long as its wrapped around my new 300 two-stroke engine, and thanks for the info about the head-light, i was waitting to hear back from SAR on weither it was the same as the ktm or not,  the headlight will be the first thing to get and put on, that way i can jump over to VT and get a plate put on her.  I havent been on a two stroke in so long that i forgot how light in comparison they are, this thing is so easy to throw around that im pretty sure the 530 will become a open trail and fire road beast. i know the weight difference is only about 30 pounds but it feels like so much more when your ducking around trees and bounceing over rocks and logs.

Oh and i got the bike for 7800, which im pretty happy about considering that its cheaper than the KTM and has a larger fuel tank, and that adds on to the saveings itself.
