I am trying to ride some tomorrow.  Was originally headed to Brushy Mountain but just read someone else's post that said Brushy is closed for hair scrambles.  Im in the Greensboro area.  Let me know what is a good alternative for tomorrow.  Headed to Busco Beach on Sunday.

I grew up in Burlington, had a lot of places back in the day, outlets covering those places now. anyway looks like sat is a no go , just got a charter, but sunday looks good. might go to busco as well, havent been since spring  sure it will be dusty and crowded.

how crowded is Uwharrie on the weekend?  I was a little worried about having to deal with passing 4x4's all day long

anyone know if they check for spark arrestors?

It can get pretty crowded on Saturdays especially if there is a 4x4 club ride/etc. Be careful for the two way traffic. I like to go early Sunday mornings, most are leaving out then anyways. It's pretty dead during the week though, I've been able to go on a Monday before and only see a couple people all day.

I've never been checked and haven't heard of anyone being checked.

It can be crowded if there is a 4x4 trail meet or something similar.  One weekend  I went there was a suzuki samurai meet that I didn't know about.  That was a bit of a pain so be sure to browse around some of the regions 4x4 message boards to see if something's scheduled.  Any other weekend traffic is ususally pretty light and the 4x4 driver's are pretty cool about letting you by.  Make sure you have a good skid plate because it is a rockgarden!

Where is the bestplace to park?

Any other riding in that area?  We rode at cape fear ATV/mx last weekend, pretty fun if the sand is wet, we made a pretty good loop out of the place, needs some single track or more tight ATV trails

I used to just use the Dutch John Trailhead parking lot but I go to the Wolf Den Parking area now. They have those permanent shitters but no running water.

I don't know of anything else near Uwharrie.

I've been wanting to go to Cape Fear, I have a place at White Lake.

That's what cape fear is, deep whooped out sand with some narrow ATV mixed in

Busco blows for trail riding.  Trails are hazardous as they cross over each other in a spiderweb like layout.  I couldn't ride at the speed I wanted due to having a blind trail intersection every 50 feet.   Cape fear is far better even though its smaller.

Midway ( Oak Island) is about an hour south of Cape Fear, its huge 2000 ac  you can ride one on Saturday and the other on Sunday

that's pretty far for us, we are in Sanford, I think we are riding cape fear again on sunday

Busco Beach is awesome.  Yes they have trails.  I ride an 07 RMZ250.  The negative comments about the tight trails are not exactly accurate.  There is a small section (which can be seen from the road when you come in) that is tight and the trails overlap each other (which could create a crash if 2 people are haling ass though there).  I personally hate this section and pretty much never ride in it.  The other reason i avoid it is because there is no shade and on a hot day you will pretty much cook if you ride around in that area for more then a few minutes.   However, that section represents maybe 3% of the entire park.  In my opinion the rest of the trails are laid out pretty nice.  Busco is definitely my favorite place to ride in NC. All riding conditions available (track, trails, mud holes, water, hills, drag strip, large open areas for strunting, etc.).  I recommend it to all.

Also, as you were told, Busco is mostly quads which is a good thing for if you are riding a trail or moto bike.  Reason being the quad guys hang out around the deep mud bogs and water holes.  They also hang around in the large open areas as spectators.  This leave the trails open wide open even on a busy day with a couple thousand people
