I think that barkbuster style handguards with plastic shields on them will also help keep the levers from getting broken (sometimes, the end of the levers have to be sawed off and filed smooth to fit behind the guards and shields).

As for picking up the bike, I can't pick mine up so great anymore. But I certainly find that shorter, lighter machines are a big help. I'm practically too tired to ride after I have to pick up my fallen 450. Admittedly, I need to do some exercising and a little bit of weight training to help out. That....and shed the extra twenty pounds of fat that I gained after I went through menopause.:thumbsdn:

Oh yes.... Bark busters are a big help :)

Eeks. I'm in menopause now! I quite like it, but I don't like getting old. Something always hurts somewhere, and I just worked off 20ish pounds. I hate to have it come back.

I was supposed to get hand guards today, but after riding we went to pick up our new, used toy hauler. Camping is going to be a blast with the bikes.

Honda CRF230M, shaved seat, other than that, stock

i'm 5' 1/2" and can touch 'almost' flatfoot. if you're 5'4" you wouldn't need to fix the seat.

my "move up bike" is a bmw G650GS (the old F650GS). go try that one on for size, its beautiful :)

Okay Ladies, I just moved up to a full size tire bike. I just purchased a Gas Gas Pampera 280. Can't wait to take it out and enjoy some trails. Rode someone else's Pampera 280 on Sunday and couldn't wait to bring mine home after that. I have friday off so maybe I can go out and break it in. I will post pics later.

My husband lowered my TTR125 for me so I could flat foot it. The original owner is about 4 inches taller than myself and most bikes I ride have to be lowered to fit my 5'2" lack of height. With some bikes, as long as I can toe touch with it I'm okay but riding trails on uneven ground and sometimes having to make sudden stops, I'd rather be able to flat foot my bike. I decided that after doing a quick stop, putting my left foot down....into nothing. There was a hole under my left foot and bike and I almost went down.

I haven't shaved the seat. The adjustments were done with the suspension. It changed the handling slightly but nothing I couldn't cope with.

Hand guards are blessings in disguise. I highly recommend them to everyone out there.

As for post menopausal weight gain...I've lost 18 of the 25 pounds I gained after the dreaded change. Happy Dance! I'm down to 120 with ten more pounds to go. Usually I'm so hungry I could gnaw on my leather purse. I hate it! All you young ladies out there, relish your monthly visitor and cherish your cramps. You WILL miss them when they go away.

I have a 2007 CRF250R. I'm 5'7. I ordered a Kouba -lowering link from CRFsonly.com(I think). and it dropped it 1.5 inches. Helped alot. Cause I couldn't touch the ground at all. Hope it helps
