400 motor into 350 frame?

Love my 85 XR 350 and ride it hard(viciously) on the many tough and technical trails around my mountain home in N-Cal. Xr-Only can no longer get parts for a complete rebuild, and I am wondering if I can sub a 400 (440) motor/trans in its place? Will it fit? Will I need to make mods? Has anyone done this?etc... :)

The XR350 and XR400 are completely different bikes.
The XR400 was designed from scratch.
(OK, input from the 86-95 XR250 design.)
