Here's the story - want to get a spare 18" wheel for the YZ. 2008 and below part numbers are different (I see there is an extra bearing in the 2009+ wheel) - does the earlier wheels fit the 2009?

The '09 uses a 25mm axle. Earlier wheels back to '99 use a 22mm axle. No bearings exist to convert the '99-'08 hubs to 25mm. Won't fit.

Aftermarket hubs such as Talons are another matter, however.

WOW that is very surprising.

Not to me. The people who answer the phones, even if you actually get the service department, are rarely anyone who would have any such information.

I have a 08 rear hub on my 2009 yz450f. The work was done by the previous owner. It was not easy to adapt. You have to machine the hub put new bearing etc. A lot of work to fit
