I stopped by there today and I spoke with Lazaro. There is some new dirt there. On friday he has equipment being brought there, he claims a rock crusher as well. I'm going to be out there on monday to help with the rebuild so I'll get some pictures. Hopefully it turns out well, from what I hear its a one year lease at the moment and he still has a lot of dirt to remove still. Ill know more monday. A lot of people thought it would never happen, I hope it does open soon, 10 minute drive beats 2 hours. Now is his chance to take his time and build it correctly, hopefully I can put my 2 cents in.

I stopped by yesterday because like everyone else I am skeptical. They were working on the track and they said they have all the clearances and will be open as soon they can finish rebuilding the track. They said about 3 weeks? The place is overgrown and needs a lot of work. Hopefully they will open in 3-4 weeks, we need it. One by one all the people I rode with have stopped because Thundercross is to far. Anyone who wants to go to Thundercross after next weekend on a Thursday or Saturday let me know.:ride:

They have a lot of work to do. If anyone has some time to volunteer I'm sure they would like some help. Rough estimate is about a month to get it going again. The rock crusher wasnt working today it needs to be fixed. I hope he takes his time and does this right, he could do really well. Heres a link to the pics I took.

a long time ago when Pete Scalzo ran the track I called FPL and they came out to fix all the lights on the polls that are on the entrance road , I asked one of the Fpl guys about what it would take to get power to the lights for night practice and they told me (3) three phase power would be needed unless you changed all the ballast in order to run the lights with the power they currently have. He also told me it would cost about $15,000.00 and that did NOT include permits. Mussco lights are the brightest but they suck alotta power!!! I cant imagine the light bill I hope those lights still work cause the bulbs ain't cheap either, not to mention the mosquitos that are like the size of small birds out there at night.

15,000 to 20,000 isn't to bad, its definitely doable. with a one year lease and more dirt to be removed I dont think lights are in the works at the moment. I wonder how much it would cost to run lights for a practice. He would need a decent turnout just to pay for lights. And yes, more dirt needs to be removed, its in a fenced of area where the start line is. And with the current brush out there the bugs and mosquitos were unbearable during the day, they definitely need to spray

I will say that now in the coming cold season (riding season) there are no mosquitos even at night. those lights would light that place up like it was daylight.you'd probably have a $1000.00 light bill for 4 hrs depending on how many lights you hook up per pole. anything more than 10 of those lights per pole and your gonna rack up the FPL bill. I believe there is also a limit of lights per pole because of code due to wind bearing load on the pole. then theres elec. capacity too. It is doable but I would much rather see them fix the RV hook ups out there cause that would be a better return for the investment. YOU CAN RENT OUT THE SPOTS!!!! IF WE GOT ANY ELECTRICIAN RIDERS NOWS THE TIME TO VOLUNTEER SOME HELP:worthy: I believe I counted 25 spots you do the math.

I was out there today. Still a lot of work to be done. I helped paint the fence along the front stretch and removed some fence posts elsewhere. The rock crusher wasnt going yet but probably tomorrow. Finally caught up with Lazaro out there, he says all the dirt on the track is going to be run through the rock crusher. As far as the building of the track there is some good news on that front. Greg Barker possibly will help with the rebuild. Ill be out there again on friday, hopefully i'll have more to share
