Repacking Yoshimura RS-4

Recommended Posts

Just bought a Yosh RS-4 for my 2011. It showed up tonight, and is a beautiful unit.

For those that have them, are you using rivets when changing the packing, or are you using screws once you have it apart? If you are using rivets, can I buy some standard rivets from any regular place, or do I have to get them from Yoshimura? I'm a rivet noob, so don't know which size they are.

It sucks that they don't have allen bolts like most mufflers do. I've always avoided pop rivets in the past, so don't even have a rivet gun.

Also, which size gun would I need?

Thanks for any info.

I've always used the ones from Yoshimura. I believe they come with the repack kit now. They are a really strong rivet, stainless steel, so they take a pnuematic rivet gun or riveting tool with really long levers to make it work. Most riveting tools come with different sizes to cover whatever you need.

Cool, good info. And, thanks for the quick response. I'll give them a call when I'm ready to repack, and research the pneumatic gun.
