Well im sure this is a millionth time someone has asked but,,Why does my 450 run hot??I went riding today in 100deg weather at some sand dunes..Yes that is hard on a bike, but my buddies (11 kx450,10 yz250f) bikes both ran hotter but mine actuall boiled over? And on the way back it started spittin and sputtering pretty bad.Got it home and rode around yard and its fine??But still had boiling sound in radiator..Whats up with this??Weak water pump? Running lean??Or just a 450 that hates tight stuff?? Need help! Thanks..

I put larger radiators, boyesen water pump and had no problem in the sand and slow stuff. I hope I wouldn't after putting these parts on.

on ebay you can get, which i got, double core, aircraft grade alluminum rads for like 60 bucks a piece, i ride alot of trail so it helps a good amount i think, also it could be the water pump shaft and seals are worn down so they might be needing to be replaced, and at that, causing it to leak out antifreeze, you can also run straighter of distilled water, which will give better cooling, but i think they say that antifreeze is also there to help lube the pump and seals,?

100F is hot.

soft sand heavily loads the engine.

you don't carry high speeds in the sand dunes.

soft sand heavily loads the engine

small, lightweight MX based radiators

all of these circumstances are why you are overheating. Oversized rads are your only solution if you want to continue riding in these circumstances.
