I was riding my bike on saturday and it ran fine, went out to use it sunday and nothing... Kicks over fine, and back fires occasonaly. It would start up if i bumped started it down a hill and would run ok but wouldnt idle.

So i changed the air filter, and put in a new plug.

I am stumped on what to do next

If anyone has any info or help please feel free to chim in!

Thanks

I'd start with the carb. Check the jets, see if any are clogged.

Did you remove the pilot jet and clean it or better yet, replace it? If it runs fine other than idle, I don't think it jumped time. Why don't you pull the valve cover and check? I'm still betting a dirty pilot.

You're saying you don't have a manual?

Thats valves way out of spec, can almost guarantee it. I had the same problem.

i checked the timing chain and valves and everything is in spec.

I am thinking that it might be the magneto not produceing enough spark to start it as it is back firing and will start if i push it down the hill.

I put fresh gas in it also now.

Anyone else thinkin of what it could be?

Verify that TDC as indicated by the flywheel is really TDC at the piston.
