What year starter clutch is best for an 03?

What year starter clutch should I get to replace the shot one in my 03 WR450? Thanks......

The starter clutch is the same as newer years. The starter gear is different in '03 than other years due to differences in the crank.

yeah i bought one from an 05 for my 03 and it won't fit cause the starter gear is a different size, i don't get it.

The starter clutch, aka starter one-way assy., Yamaha p/n 5TJ-15590-00-00 http://shop.thumpert...2005&model=5237, is the same in 2003 as it is in 2005. The starter gear is different because in 2003 there is a bushing and a smaller bore to fit the smaller diameter crankshaft end. You have to use the '03 gear and flywheel with the '05 clutch.
