A plated, updated WR$50F would be marvelous. I'm very close to selling my '09 WR450F and XR650L, and going to a KTM 500 EXC or a Husqy TE-xxx?

Interesting. For some reason people are scared of European bikes in Australia. They're convinced that they're unreliable and there is more objection than support for EFI.

The CRF and the WR are good solid bikes but the europeans are a long way ahead in terms of development.

I know if I had the money I would be riding a 2012 450EXC...

In the Past Euro were not perfect as Japs were, in term of reliability. Now it's better even if some euro owners complaint about details, so i understand Aussie feeling, and share it !

Nice looking bike! Is your lighting run off of battery only or have you somehow tapped into the stator power to the efi?

I've heard a nasty rumour here in Oz that once again there will be no updates to the WR450 for 2012. I hope they're wrong.

Someone here questioned whether the bike would even be discontinued sometime in the future: I wouldn't be surprised.

From what I hear talking to people who've bought one of the new-gen. YZs, you can adapt the power curve to your liking so easily, all there would be to do to make it a woods weapon would be to put softer springs in the forks - and a lot of blokes change their springs anyway, even WR owners.

However, having watched a major off-road event in my hometown on the weekend, and seeing the ugly larger aftermarket tank set-up for YZs, I hope they come up something better than that. Just my thoughts.

I know in one YZF, but don't remember if it is the 250 or 450, they install a stator for lighting, on the other just a wire from engine is sufficient. On YZFE 450 they can also install gearing from a 450 WRF and ratio are perfect for enduro use. They "plate" 2 and 4 strokes, new or used. It's an asset for Mx guys, for resale...
