Moved the GoPro to an under the visor mount. Much better view than on top of the helmet IMO.
I agree! The only thing less desirable than a 10' view from the top of a helmet is a nausea inducing chest mount view, imho. Under visor or side of helmet for me please!
Nice riding on that 400!

Ya, my sister in law can't even watch any of the vids, gives her motion sickness. Haha!

First real ride w/ the ContourRoam. I'm not impressed with the sound quality, it's really hard to get rid of the wind noise!

A layer or two of masking tape over the mic hole helps a lot.

A few weeks ago I saw a childhood friend I hadnt seen in years that I rode cycles with...long story short, his parents own most of the land across from my parents where we ride on most Sundays. In the woods is a trail we can ride(40 acres with 1 mile loop) ,nobody's been on it for two years though. So we spent last Sunday getting it cleaned up (chainsaw)  and had a good ride yesterday. This is the "easy" loop, the hard loop has yet to be traced and cleared out again.
Video starts a bit slow as I was going to follow my 11 year daughter for a lap but she started out a bit slower than usual....  so  i had to pass her!

Just some lazy riding in this one, and I mostly put this together to show off the differences between my camera & my friends. Worth checking out imo.
XR250R on the left. 200XCW on the right. Watch full screen in 1080p for a true comparison.

Here's a vimeo link to the same film if youtube is laggy.

Are these ContourRoam cameras?

If so, can you tell me what you have the mic sensitivity set at? And also if these were filmed using hte masking tape trick you mentioned earlier?

Sounds pretty good!

Great ride last Saturday but the edited vid here looks sketchy to me. UGH!!

Raw footage looks great and plays butter smooth but windows live movie maker seems to ruin it.
Did you record at 60fps? wlmm will only output 30fps as far as I know. Your older vids don't seem to suffer the same problem... you must have done something different this time?

Camera on the left is the older ContourHD 720. Cam on the right is the generation after that, being the ContourHD 1080. So no, these aren't of the new Roam variety.
Cam on the left has 2 layers of masking tape over the mic hole. Not sure about the cam on the right, but I seem to recall him putting some electrical tape on it. Not really sure.
Mic sensitivity is at default setting for both, whatever that is. In other words, we didn't fool with that.

Btw, the tape trick works great for speeds under 30mph or so. But you'll still get wind noise when you go really fast no matter what, but to a somewhat lesser extent.

I'm uploading a re exported version now that I saved at a higher bit rate. Seemed to cure it when I played it back on my computer. Hopefully it will upload alright and not take all day. I set my export settings at 5000kb/s like Vimeo says but this one uploading now is at 8000. I'll just replace the old one if it works.

EDIT - put updated link on previous post. Plays a lot smoother now.

Hauled one of my XR200's to a friends house to see if I could sell it. I experienced one of the most unusual rides of my life that day.

Went for a ride last night after work with a 17 year old friend of mine who rides a CR125- took him over to the mile loop at the neighbors place. Its been raining for the last day and was raining on and off while we were riding. A trail that isnt bad  dry was slick and got slicker after making a few laps.
Well, the bikes a bit harder to control when its this slick! LOL Managed to just smack a tree with my BB which is better than a header into it! Lots of fun either way! And thats after I managed to kill it going downhill- was gettng tired!

I have the Contour HD 1080 camera and love it!!!!!!!!!!. Who out there is editing their videos. What programs are you using to do it. Windows Movie maker is not cutting it for me because I have to change the format of the file and it looses its chrispness. I need a little help. It does not seem that the story board on the Contour site allows for editing.

What windows do you have? Windows 7 comes with movie maker live (newest version) and it does support MP4 files, no conversion needed. You might be able to upgrade to it if you have Vista. No idea on XP.

Here is a clip of the 2.88 mile loop I have made on my inlaws property, a good mix of everything.  60-70 miles in the woods is no problem, but this loop I have made on 48 acres is brutal.
