My brother is going to buy a stock KDX 200. Will this bike beat my stock xr400 in a straight out drag race say 0-60mph?????? I'm hoping my 400 will out torque the KDX and pull away:moon:

Aren't KDX 200's and 220's really good trail bikes??

Also will a DRZ400E destroy the xr400 in a race 0-60MPH??

What year ?

I had a 91 kdx 200 and a 91 kdx 250, either bike would take the xr400 in a drag to a certain speed, but thats the 2-smoke rpm .
On the trails I like the xr's, 400 or 250 doesn't really matter, just better low end and it seems you never get out of 2 or 3rd gear and riding a 2 stroke gets old.

Not certain on what year he wants. He is just looking for a good deal on one that is stock and in good shape. Are you serious?? A KDX 200 will take the xr 400 :smirk:
AHHH who cares, nothing compares with the usable torque of the xr's:busted:

I can't believe how many xr's you have, and very fitting that you have the john deer next to the xr's because the xr's pull like tractors! Do you like the 400 better than the 600 or 650??

I keep buying xr400's and selling them, I ride a 97 xr250r mostly but I have a love / hate relationship with xr4's.

Buddy has a year old 650L ,very cool bike but to big for me, like the 400, I'd get myself in trouble on it.

All but two of those bikes in the pic have been sold .

I now have a 97 xr400r, 97 250r and my son has a 95 xr250

The 400 is under construction right now, going to be duel sport 440 and load !

I like almost any bike but the Honda's and Kaw's are my thing.

I'm curious of what your love hate thing is with the xr4. I have both the xr250 & xr4. The 400 was my primary bike in the beginning But I have switched over to the xr250 because I was tired of wrestling the weight and size of the 400. The Xr250 size is a good match for me but at times I wish it had more poop like the 400. Never on single track though. I'm thinking of selling the 400 and getting a KDX 200/220. I wounder how they'll compare.

Same thing with the 400, I'm 165 now, love the power, hate the weight.

I like the quick power of a 2 smoker but also the tractor pull of the xr's.

Does that make any sense ?
I have had Kaws for a long time, jet skies and bikes

I think they are roughly the same hp stock. I would imagine though, an XR4 could carry higher gearing than the KDX because of the tourque. The longer the race, the better chance you'll have IMO. I think it would be close through the gears, he might pull a bike length on ya but I think the KDX would hit top speed 1st and you would have a little left. If the KDX has been unplugged and piped though,, you might be seein just the tail light and a dust cloud. That's why I don't drag race my red mule. I just say no thanks and then pass 'em when they crash, run out of gas, have to stop for a break every 5 miles or just break down. :smirk: That's usually what happens to the guys who are fixated on being the fastest "trail rider" anyway.

I think my xr4 will beat the kdx 200. But I agree that if the kdx is uncorked it will pull away probably pretty good. Just my opinion:doh: It's nice to have the top end pull of the 2 smoke:lame: but nothing beats the tractor torque of the xr:busted:

the red mule lol

it's a john deere with red paint!

My money is on the thumper. I used to eat up YZ250's and CR250's all day long on my xr.

one of my closest friends rides a kdx200 and I am riding my ol' tractor of an xr250r with a 53 tooth rear sprocket. He gets me in the straights, but I just wait for the hills!
