I guess some of us hate to admit that we are old timers. I started riding back in 1967 when I was twelve and have never stopped. There is a box of pictures in the garage that I have been looking for since this forum started. As soon as I find them I will be posting some old shots of myself and others at Ascot, Indian Dunes, Baymare.....
I found a box last weekend with my old Bates chest protector, leather pants and Maico jersey, 72 and 73 Elsinore GP front # plates and some pictures on the pavement from the 73 GP. I forgot that I had this stuff!

My 70s rides were all road bikes, I didn't come to MX until late in life. A mix of evil handling Jap 2 strokes and British single, twins and triples filled the 70s & 80s then came the Italian era until the early 90s, a short couple of years on HD then my second childhood in 98 on a TT-R250(325)and have never looked back!

I started riding in '77. I had my share of old scoots ('72 CT70, '72 CT90, '75 TS250, '77 CR250 to name most) but didn't get into racing MX and scrambles until later in life. I still ride over the rear fender on jumps instead of leading with my face, like the newer long travel bikes dictate. I ride with a great bunch of guys in ACR. www.acrmx.com

You guys ARE NOT alone. :)

Hey,

First bike was a Yamaha MX100, silver tank with green stripes and small wheels. Biggest mod, pipe, Hooker or some off brand, and Preston petty plastic fenders! Got stolen by that guy Osterman, who became a factory wrench. He was a really rich dirtbag with an ass for a father that covered up for him. I live in Encino.

My favorite to this day. My CR 125, I had the first or second year. It had a green and silver steel tank. I moved up the shocks in metal shop. Also made a aluminum reservior tank charged with gas to help with the overheating of the shocks. It had aircraft surplus steel line bolted to the shocks that led to the tank to BogeMullholland shock. It didn't work for crap. But it was really fun making it. That bike was fun, fast, and easy to ride. Remember the billet gas cap that was too small.

2nd was a Jap import MT125, next was my alltime favorite,

So THAT'S where they ended up. For a minute there I thought you were going to tell us that they were at the YMCA...or in the Navy. :D

Geez, give guys a bike with a 'magic button' and look how they react. :)

Arrgh, wicked "flash back" to a time best forgotten, it just wasn't the same after Led Zep.
Now I'm not going to be able to look at another DRZ rider without :)
