06 YZ 450 Air Box Holes

I recently bought an 06 yz450 and it has what looks like non-factory holes drilled in the side of the air box. Is there a specfic reason the previous owner did this, like the 06s are known for starving for air?

The PO did it because he thought it looked cool. There's no technical need for it, and it lets mud/water/crap into the air box.

Should the bike have been re-jetted after drilling the holes? The bike runs good.

No.

You should at least put some foam material on the backside of the holes to check dirt and mud though, if the PO didn't.
