^^^ things pricey for a tach.  Is there any way I can use a cheap car tach for the bike?  You can pick up tachs that are small for under 20 bucks

Wondering how you can pick up a signal with a cap on coil kit fitted as there is no HT lead

Yes you can. The important thing is: is the tach configurable for a single cyl?
The Z does spark on the exhaust stroke too.

I use a device that can electronically devide and double tach signals.
Johnson electronics IIRC.
Works nicely, increases signal quality too.
Next to none energy use.
Small box.
Beats the 20 buck thing though.

And the Z revs to 10.000 or 10.500 (E) rpm.
For scales.

this might be a dumb question. For the vapor tachs, is there a way to set the mileage on the tach? I wouldnt want to lose my total mileage. and does it have the multiple mileage trips like the stock one? i run my B for each oil change and my Trip A for gas fill ups (i dont like to add miles. i did that on another bike and forgot how many total miles was on it). If not does anyone have it set up with the vapor and stock? Where did you put it? you guys may have sold me. it looks pretty easy and i definitely would like more information about how my bike is running...

Yeah, you can set the starting mileage to the same as your current mileage.
