hey everyone, I recently purchased a 2000 yz426f that needed rebuilt. I am in the process of rebuilding it now. But mean while, we were at the track yesterday for practice and I rode a friend's 05 yz450f. Let me tell you I have been riding 250f's for 5 or 6 years and never rode a 450. After riding for hours on the track with the 250f and swapping to the 450f, it was simply amazing. I loved the power of the bike and thaught his 05 yz450f basically felt the same as my 05 yz250f suspension wise, besides being a little heavier. I can't wait to have that 426 running. Good bye yz250f, hello yz426f:banana:

Yeah, i came off a 250f before getting my 450. When i first rode it, i thought it was extremely amazing. Now that i'm used to it, the 450 doesn't even seem like that much. Now,i couldn't imagine going back to a 250f because i'm so used to not having to rev the bike too high to make power. Anyway, good luck on the build!

Yeah, I rode the 450 for about 10 laps. When I got back on the 250f, I felt like I was over revving it, even though I know I wasn't.
I should be getting started with the rebuild thursday. I have all my parts, except the crank, which I expect to have today or tomarrow. I will start a new thread and post pics as I take them.

i had a 01 cr250r and a 2000 vor400enduro before my 02 yz426. and niether of them compared to the 426. i wouldnt mind having my cr250r still for a back up bike(was stolen). i figure in the future ill splurge to a 450 and hopefully have enough money to keep the 426 as a back up. love the bike.

Sounds like fun. I have a nice 05 yz250f that I just rebuilt this past winter. I plan on keeping that and maybe racing 2 classes, if I actually race and not just practice. I also have an 06 crf250r that I need to rebuild once I finish the 426. I will be selling that bike. I'll be starting on the 426 tomarrow. I have it all apart, just waiting on the crank. So, if I get the crank, I'll be working on the motor, If not, I'll be working on the chassis. I can't wait to have it complete. Hope to be done by friday. I will start a new thread loaded with tons of pics once I get started.

Just picked up the crank for the 426. I'm gonna put the engine together tonight, then work on the rest of the bike tomorrow. Hope to have it running by friday or tomorrow night. Look for that new thread.

i had two yz 250s and just got a 05 yz450f... theyre not insanly fast and crazy responsive like people make them out to be. my yz was a much torquey faster ride. all bikes were stock btw, any one feel the same?

i have an 02 yz250f but my dad had an 06 yz450 which was alot lighter then the 05 model and i think its only like 10-15 lbs more then my 250f and it is so much easier to torque over jumps and everything else out of corners, i am saving up right now to get one, i have 1200 saved up and i can probably sell my bike for 1500 i will probably be able to get a pretty good 450 for 2700. definitely looking forward to roosting my dad on the track!

i love 4 stroke power, i went from Yz125, which was poop for around here, to a Wr250, and when i went for a first ride on that, i was amazed at how power compared, i was also amazed at how nice the power was, smooth, and controlable, i go up a hill, want to do a light wheelie, no problem, want to wheelie more, no problem either,

i find 2 strokes in dirtbikes, power is hard to control, its too agressive, not smooth,

i ride a Yz450f now, and for all the singletrack riding, you need that 450's power for that quick accel, and being a 4 stroke, the power is there and easy to control,

also 2 strokes, you hit the power band, you got hard power, rpm's get up high you loose power quick, 4 stroke its always there, no "if i fall out of the power band then i will never make this hill" stuff,....
