EDIT: Saw that you fixed the pics.

As for burns: I haven't burnt myself on a 4 stroke pipe yet, but I almost had the pipe on my KX250F burn through my jersey. I did have a pretty wicked pipe burn from one of the expansion chambers on my Banshee, though.

Not by FMF, but still a header burn. Had to get a shot of penicillin after it got infected in the tropics.....

Were you not wearing boots? Looks like the burns are kind of low if you were.

They are notorious for burning thru pants and zapping unsuspecting arms but there is hope!!

If it really hurts there is a cream that you can get from a doctor that will make it heal fast and be pain free. I have had much worse pipe burns.

Last Friday I went riding with my 3 yr old son (like I do every friday). He has an older PW50. When it was time to go, he didnt want to leave (like he does every Friday). So I let him ride a few more laps while I got my gear off and loaded my bike into the truck. I took all of my gear off and put on shorts, t-shirt & sandals and loaded up my bike. I called the boy over and told him to call it a day. He did and I helped him get his gear off. Then I went to load up his little PW50 with that low pipe. It had been sitting for a few minutes, so i figured it wasnt too hot. WRONG, the muffler burnt the shiznit outta my ankle! Who knew these little bikes get so hot, and that they stay hot for several minutes. Needless to say my three year old learned a few new words that I hope he doesn't repeat to mommy.

It doesn't take long for them to get hot either. I won't touch my pipe on my bike even if its only been running for only 30 seconds. Made that mistake once and won't do it again.

Don't 4 strokes get hotter then 2 strokes? Because I have never had a problem with my KDX.

I think they do. I have never been seriously burned by either type of exhaust, but when I started riding 4 strokes, I managed to melt a couple of places on almost every pair of pants that I wore while riding the dang things. I won't even buy any riding pants that don't have leather on the inside of the knees anymore. I never managed to even melt one pair of pants on a 2 stroke.

After ruining two pair of pants now with holes burnt in the side of the knee from my fmf mega bomb, I spent $25 on header wrap. Hopefully this will prevent any more burns on my pants and or flesh.

+2 on small bore bike burns. I was putting the skid plate on my 150 after running it long enough to warm it up and changing the oil, I went to bolt the plate back on and I burnt my arm below the elbow on the header. It wasn't too bad though, I've definitely done worse.
