Just ran out and weighed it on standard bathroom scales so it is probably off some...

Big TE muffler, about 1/2 - 3/4 gallon gas, disk guards, GPS, HD tubes, Trails tires (proabbaly a wash weigh wise), full street gear, plate headlight etc. so 270 as she sits from last ride. Not bad at all.

- Might have a TXC449 here tomorrow to weigh.

... from what things sound like, it should be just fine for Vet MX. Up close, these bikes are nice and I see a discounted '11 449 or a '12 for me in the near future.

I think it would be very good for that. Real EZ to ride and great smooth power.

I was just at Trailtech picking up some stuff and there was an April Dirt Bike there. Had a quicky half page blurb on the TE/TXC 449. Seemed they really liked it stating it had a powerful and VERY smooth motor that ran great, super stable climbed like nothing else, great suspension and were very up beat about it. Said in-depth test coming soon. Cool.

What KTM did for Husaberg, BMW did for Husqvarna.

KTM wanted Husabergs engine and gave Husaberg its suspension, frame technology and ignition.

BMW needed a brand name for their engines and Husky needed a boost in $ from what Cagiva was giving.

Personally, I think Husqvarna or Husaberg would be a good dual purpose or purpose built off road sled these days.:ride:

Now thats freaking hilarious from the dude that had 10-20 threads and endless posts about the bike before it came out and then went quiet after. Confusing.

Kelly, I have more work than I know what to do with and only been able to get on the bike once all month for a 2 hour ride on a rain day.

I'm getting 3 to 4 jobs a day and each job takes a day to do.

We're backed up into mid July right now and that's if we work 7 days a week.

Currently I'm having two other machines built because this GREEN Historic restoration business has taken off.

Funny how Folks with OLD money are still spending like crazy even though they're cruising around town in Toyota Prius's instead of 7 series BMWs

It's fricking crazy... but all good.

Just a real quick thanks also for past ride reviews, it was this sight and a lot of reading that convinced to by my 04 TC450, which I still have a love affair with-longer by several seasons over any bike I have owned.

Well you know the difference.. lighter weight stiff suspension and a little more performance or the plate and softer trail suspension.

Did a test ride yesterday had a TE449 and my TE511 together, was fun and one more guy selling his bike for e 449/511 and shocked how good it is. You really need to ride one for a half hour or so on your favorite trails and it all will come quickly in focus. These bikes simply enable you to enjoy the trail and focus on railing. Such a forgiving and accommodating platform. Mike (buddy who borrowed a 449 for this ride) was amazed how good the bike was and how amazing the suspension, CTS, motor and handling were. All the way home the conversation was what his current bike is worth and the best way to sell it. He could not believe how light the bike feels and how good it works.

Hey Ride,

Comparing the 449 to the 511, are there any other mechanical differences besides the slightly (477cc) bigger bore of the 511? Does the 511 have more flywheel? How do they feel in comparison?

It seems odd that Husky would offer two displacements so close together, a 450 and 477, without other defining differences. For example, the KTM 530 has the same motor as the 450, but the crank is stroked 8mm to get the difference in displacement, giving the 530 engine a slower revving, more low end feel.

was just a nice trail ride, Mike had not been on a bike in quite a while due to lower back issues. We were taking it EZ for the most part. I'll try to accommodate your "are time" request next time but in the trees it is hard to get real air time.

They feel almost exactly the same (save for setup) and the 511 feels like it has 2-5 more HP everywhere.

I promise I'll post some "air time" pics of my son on his new TXC511. He definitely "goes big".

So what about gear ratios? My 07 te450, I sold it because the gear ratios where to close. When I had the bike geared for the tight single track I could only go about 63 with out the motor tacking to much for my comfort, even then I had to work the clutch more in the tight single track. My buddy's 530 had a lower 1st, real nice in the single track but on the highway I would be toped out and he would pass me grabbing 6th. Seem that should be more addresed in this thread, and I don't see a kick starter in the pic's, not sure I would have a woods bike with out a kick starter.

Still plugging away on my 07 tc510 and tc250.

Yep, trans is still on the tight side but works for me (not ideal), no kick starter, tank is to small. These have all been address in other posts on the bike.

Thanks, I only read through this thread because it's your's. You might not remember but you gave me some good advice when I got my 07 TC's. Awesome bikes, I've had and Im still having a great time on my Husqvarna's. I think I would live with the kick starter issue if the tranny ratios where wider like the 530's. The tank, i'm sure something will be avialble soon.

Other than those points the bike is fantastic. You need to put in a good hour or so and it all comes into focus. Quite a few people have tried mine now, everyone loved it and several are selling bikes to acquire one, it is that good.
