Sorry for the bad info. I looked back through some posts, and the tank re-molding was for the other conversion I was looking to do, a KDX200/KX125 conversion. The bottom of the tank had to be 'persuaded' to make room for the coolant line on the top of the 200's head.
With regards to newer model's tanks, I'll have to do the same thing with my '04 RM85 tank. It won't clear the valve cover on the XR80 motor, and if I'm not mistaken, the XR100 motor is a few mm taller.

Socal, that is the rm85 tank that I just bought. I read that most people use a heat gun to remold a tank. Can I just heat it up and slightly bend out the left side so there's a 1/4" clearance?

Sometimes you gotta do what you have to do.  Does the shroud cover it, so you won't be able to tell?

Yeah, the shroud should be big enough to cover everything. My dad has a heat gun at home for rc planes, so I'll give that a try. Otherwise he said there's a hotter one at his work.

For those of you that have made your own custom silencers/mufflers, where did you get your materials from? Feel free to PM me, thanks.
