I plugged all the holes in the case and did the haves together I would hate to get glass inside the unit.  you would really have to blast for awhile to change clearances, the case took about 15 minutes to clean to give you an idea of how long you how to spend on an area it is a mess if it gets into the threads tape it off when in doubt.  Everything but frame and swingarm were powder coated by me including the engine lower.  It is completed and I am currently uploading the pics, stay tuned........

ok on to motor assembly.  I was lucky to find a new cam chain, and tensioner for the motor, I replaced every single bearing in the lower end.  It took some tracking down to find some of the parts but it should be worth it. Again the lower was powder coated in matte black power and turned out great.  here is the trans and the crank going in

I was jumping around abit due to waiting on parts, so I went back to the chassis a bit to get a few more things cleaned and rehabbed, the plastics looked great, I hope the tank comes out as well, hoping to get a big dent in it on Sunday, our weather here in PA has been crap so it is hard to get something done.  You can see the front fenders progression in the pics as well.  It is funny I thought the seat cover was decent till I saw it in place.

a few parts for it finished.  No that is not my powder coat oven.  in the pic, just sitting there till I can get it to trash our rental property needed a new one.  some of the xr 75 progression you can watch for the build in the vintage section to date it is done prep wise for the chassis and just needs the engine tackled

ok back to the task at hand.   the motor was at a stand still at this point, the piston was in and after inspection of the head I had a problem, the dreaded valve springs of the xr.  both the inners and outers were out of service limits and required replacement.  So luckly I got the last set of kibble whites from xr's only, whew though honda was going to get serious money from me.  Again the cylinder was ceramic coated which I was told should actually do a better job of heat dissipation than the original enamel

I had to get some work down in the basement because I was added a bathroom so I had to have some floor cut out in the garage to tie in the drains, with a nice day out it got some sun light.  It is waiting for a transplant

After my new valve springs came and I was sure they were wrong, but after calls to xr's only and again the next day to kibble white I confirmed this was correct, look at this lower retainer, Am I the only one that thinks it was weird?  The retainer sat in the valve guide in stead of the actual head.  apparently the oem shim gets tossed looks goofy to me, but I was assured this was correct.

if you look at the pics you will see has tight the new tensioner is, if fact it fought me so bad to get the cotter in to it to set the timing, should be great for the bike, but that is what it should be new.  The cam gear was a bear. I am still debating on whether to grind the fins and polish them like stock 350 of leave them black.  I am going to hand paint the rfvc logo most likely silver, as well as the Honda on both side covers to church it up a bit.  wow put me over 100 posts.  Feel free to ask questions about the progress or prep, I have done several smaller motors nothing this involved so it was a first for me.  adjusting the valves at this point as well

topped her off with powder coated caps in platinum, was going to go with chrome but thought this was more oem looking.  need an oil filter and spark plug and the motor is done.  As you can see in the pics my shop is a complete wreck, that is from the basement and garage getting turned up side down all for a 25 foot floor drain so I can piss down stairs, arghhhhh, working on that now tha'ts it for tonight stay tuned.......

Dang, nice work.  I have an 85 XR200 engine just like that which I will be using for a bike project after I tear it down and rebuild it.  Looks like you have plenty of room to punch the cylinder out............lets say to a 250.  I have ready that the clutch case cover off of a 86 - 95 XR250 bolts up to use an oil cooler.

Nice work.

that is a great mod, and upgrade, I wanted to keep this original so.  I really at the end doubt this will be a daily rider, so I am not overly concerned about the added cooler,  but if you plan on really using the bike alot that would be a definite.
