Extended range tank - 1 gal more

Recommended Posts

I couldn't find any larger tanks for the WR450 that imcreased the capacity by a gallon or more. I fabricated this holder - it bolts to the headlight mounts (2 top and 2 bottom) and holds a std 1 gallon gas can. Plan on using it only for those long day trips. It can be changed out with the headlamp in about 10 minutes.

Will be subjecting it to "durability testing" next weekend. ?

Acerbis used to make a number plate fuel cell that would hold one gallon. I don't know if they make it anymore but my buddy has used his for years. Looks kind of silly, but it sure is functional. Has several tubes on it that draws fuel from the number plate tank first and then the bike tank. He said it makes the front end a bit heavier but he doesn't really notice much of a difference in handling (he's running it on a 2000 YZ250.)

They still make the unit that replaces the numberplate. PN 11251006 for the 1.3 gallon.

11250006 for the 0.8 gallon tank. Either is $62 through Chaparral.

They also made one that replaced the left side panel for the YZ's. It was white and looked just like the panel only it was a gas tank. I can't find it in the Acerbis catalog.
