2007 yz450f oil check bolt question

This has been bothering me when i was checking my oil the other day. I looked in the manual and it says check on the dip stick that it is up to the bottom of the double x line but then also open the check bolt and let it drain out till it stops. What i don't understand is when looking at the engine from the side, the dip stick level mark is clearly way higher then the check bolt location. How is that?
