I have been using a Hinson basket, when I installed it the instructions said to use Yamaha clutch plates and fibers, anyone know why? I need to replace my clutch and would really rather use an aftermarket set up in order to save cash.

When I put one in, the only thing I noticed is that it said not to put Kevlar clutch plates in. I'm not sure why, but I would hazard a guess at they hook up firmer and may damage the clutch basket. If you shop around a little you can find good prices on OEM stuff. Call some of the dealers in MX mags. I got great prices on OEM stuff for my top end rebuild from National Parts depot.
