Yes, BUT find another one and listen to it. I just put a crank in mine and rode it this past weekend, and the trans noise was driving me nuts. I was thinking I missed a bad bearing. One of my riding buddy's has the same bike, and the same noise. It seems the trans in the 2007-2009's make noise.

Ok but the thing is I only had the bike for three days and theres o my like five hours on it. And it was bought brand new right from the dealer. It runs really really good but that noise sometimes makes me worried. But I did purchase a three year warranty on it. That covers the motor and stuff.

But does anybody else hav this problem?

Cool man thank you so much! So do you think I will have to adjust the valves a lot? I keep my air filter clean every ride. I o ly had it for three days so you know.

But now I got about five hours on it. Should I change he oil now? I was going to do it. But I want to see if it's necessary.

Check the valves when you feel like you ought to. They probably won't need an adjustment for quite a long time (although one or two of them may "settle" a bit from where they were when brand new).

On a brand new bike, I dump whatever is in it (because I don't know what it is) and use my regular oil for break in. After the two hour break in, it gets new oil again. After that, I change oil every two or three rides, depending on how long and hard they were, which usually works out to be something like 8 hours or less.

well i rode mine for about 2 hours nice and easy and then rode it a lot harder the next day but i never go near the rev limiter.

do you think messed the motor up or something? This is my first race four stroke and im very very worried about it blowing up. The manual even says run it for an hour and then its ready to race.

Do you think everything is going to be ok? I even heard people just riding it like they stole it right when they get it. And they never had a problem.

You sure worry a lot for a 16 year-old. The biggest mistake you made so far was riding it nice and easy for two hours. Just go ride it.

But remember it's not a CR80, it's a 450F ride it as such, you can get to the rev limiter, but SHIFT!!!! My biggest mistake on mine was I tried to ride it like my old KX250, WFO and rev to the moon, and at 45 or so hours, I had to rebuild it. Now I am learning how to use the torque the engine has and less rev's, and it's a blast.

There are guys on here that have over 200 hrs on a top end, so the bike can do it, just be smart and you'll be fine.

P.S. Listen to what Gray says,, he really knows his stuff.

The clutch area noise is completely normal. When I first got mine I swore something was wrong with it. Even pulled the clutch apart to check everything out. You will get used to it over time. I don't even notice it anymore.

dont be afraid to take your bike close to that rev limiter....its there for a reason itll wont let you get to the point where the engine fails....(im not saying you can sit there and bounce it off the Rev limiter for minutes at a time) but these bikes have amazing top ends..so use it! i have the same bike and do a top end ever 45-50 hours but ive seen bikes go hundreds of hours without anything but maintance. i do mine so often because theres race days where youd think barcia is on the bike i like keeping my bike in the top end....dont be afraid to wring this bike out the engine are one of the most bulletproof designs out there! oh and all of the yamaha engines are loud and make noise ?

I know I worry a ton. But when I pay with my own money I like to keep everything in top shape. But I never ride the bike a two stroke. I never even came close to the rev limiter

You'll be fine, you just need time on the bike. Keep the oil and filter's clean, check the valve after a while, and have fun!!! It's also great to see a young man really want to take care of what he has,, I'm proud to chat with ya!

Thanks man!! Well I clean the air filter every ride. And today i just put fresh oil in it and an oil filter. Now it's way different than a two stroke because there are two drain holes.

But it says torque the oil tank bolt to 14 pound but I'm worried bout stripping it. Because I turned it a good bit and the torque wrench wouldn't click so I just stopped. But I got it to 13 pounds.

Also anything else I should know about this bike?

lets see, bleed the forks every moto, your right about the drain plug torque, seems a little off, DON'T get water or trash in the breather hose!! read on here about moving it, mine is now in the air box. The fork oil that came in my 2008 was crap! 5wt Bel ray made the forks much better. Don't let it sit and idle for long periods it will over heat quick! I wont sit more than 2 minutes with out shutting it down. Cam timing chain is only good for 40 or so hours. etc. etc. etc.

I know GrayRacer can add a ton of these "Hints"

Ok but how do I know when to adjust the valves? Also how do you know when to change the timing chain? I just don't want his thing to be like my buddies Honda where he is replacing valves left and right.

But thats why I chose yamaha. Also I ride woods and I may race harescrambles but when should I look into doing a top end? I only got like five hours on the bike but I just want to for prior knowledge.

Is there anything else.

Also I'm running stock gearing. I think it's 13 49? But anyway I took the stock chain off and threw a renthal on it. Should I go up to a 50? Because I really don't need too much speed but I need a little more torque when I lug it into some bends.

i have an 2008 yz450f, clutch has made noise just like yours since the day i bought it, perfectly fine... this was my first four stroke also after 3 two strokes... i was very scepticle of gettin a four stroke caus ei was scared of it blowin shit up... my bike is 100% stock besides sprockets exhaust and intake, and ive not once adjusted anything from the carb to the motor... change the oil keep the filter clean and ride it like you stole it and its bullet proof.. i do agree with riding it like a four stroke tho its much funner, my bike loves being high in rpm's but shift it is right!! braaaap on

well being a new bike, check the valves at 20 hrs, change the cam chain 40-50 hrs, and check and adjust valves then. Think about a top end at 100 to 150 hrs, I have a friend that pulled his down at 125hrs and even the rings were still in spec. I also woods ride, and HS, I went to a 52 rear sprocket, and a 4.8 oz flywheel and the bike is awesome in the woods, If I was a MX guy I'd change it back to stock.

I heard people puting a slip on, on this bike. I heard that stock silencer robs some ponies. Also it sometimes feels when I going to into some tight bends and I'm luggin it in we second gear, the bike pulls but I can see it needs a little more. Should I got to a 51 rear? The bike is already ridiculously fast.

Or could I go down one tooth in the front sprocket? That could save me some $$$ in case I don't like it and I spent all that cash on a new chain and sprocket.

I believe a 13 is in the front sprocket, could I go to a 12?
