Ive got 2 dogs. They are considered "kids" to me. :)

You think if I claimed 2 dependents on next years taxes as "Skylar" and "Apollo" I would get a nice mid year return?

Hey you guys, why don't you send that money back? I think the crackhead single welfare mothers and drug addicts that need clean needles could use the money more than you can.
We could also build self cleaning toilets for the homeless as well, and don't forget midnight basketball courts for our youths. No sense putting that money back in to the economy, right?

Just a thought, what do you guys think?

Well if we did send it back I am sure the democratically held congress and senate will make sure they embezzle the monies to the correct crackheads under the guise of entitlements for the lazy (Share the wealth socialist)

Sorry could resist FTD :)

I'm going to send mine back. Don't have any specific plans for it and with the defecit and all. Our government is a such a good money manager, I'm sure they will do a better job with it than I could.

vmaxcbr900wr426,
I can answer that question for you. It depends, here are the basics. First of all this is an advance on 2003's increased Child Tax Credit. In 2002 the credit was $600 (per qualifying child) but was increased to $1,000 for 2003. In an effort to spur the economy the government granted this mid-year advance (you'll get the balance of $600 when you file your 2003 tax return).

Now the catches:
-You will only receive this advance on qualifying children under 17 that were claimed on your 2002 tax return as this is the only way the IRS knows how many you have. So if you had a new baby born since January 1st 2003 you won't get the $400 advance but you will get the full $1,000 credit when you file for 2003 (this is my case).
-There are income limitations and phase-out's that are too complicated to get into here but know this: If you had no tax liability for 2002 then you won't qualify for the advance but may still received at least a portion of the credit when filing for 2003. Also, high income earners may receive a phase-out reduction of the advance.

Bottom line, go spend the money if you can and enjoy it. Buy those Tech 8's (how about a pair for me too?).

I'd expect nothing less. Actually, I heard that GOP pundits were a little weary of this, as you may end up with someone less qualified than Davis.

Ha! Imagine that!

All you need is somebody to swagger into town, tip his hat, spit a little chew on the floor, and announce that he is ready to reduce taxes and lessen governmental regulation. What else is there?

:)

Deregulation of the power industry is largely resonsible for CA economy issues, but that ain't my areas issue: We sell you our excess power. We have "power-brokers" who sell power on the free market, kinda like the stock market.

Those guys made a bundle off you guys, kinda exported your money right up here.

Thanks!

Hey No problemo Brandon, Davis did a good job at screwing Calif with the power crisis we are only glad to hand our money over, its the california way we have tons of it.

With all the refineries and power stations that were nixed over the last 10 + years because of the Green socialist lobbying and keeping boxcar, Frankenstein and the rest in there pockets. Not to mention how Fienstien and Palosi have gotton richer by doing business with Communist china (Nice Vote record there) and lets not forget how our buddie Bubba gave away all of our nuclear secrets for Chinese Cash :) What a perfect world we live in...

Hey lisa if you want send me your check if you dont want it or think its a bad thing

Thanks for the info. I think I had read that before but I was wondering if it had any other strings attached like how much you made for the year or previous deductions.

I should get $1200 back. Funny thing is that it's almost the exact amount I gave the government in April. Morons. I could have spent that months ago. :)

EGO, sorry to hear that your daughter has medical issues. I wish her and you the best.
