Correct it is HollywoodMX... Heres the link to the process http://www.thumperta...hlight=tank dye, and heres how my tank came out after the 2nd dye process... you can decide if its worth it to try or not. One thing I will mention is the importance of getting the water as hot as possible. I actually got a  roaster and left it on outside of course, for about 8 hours. If you cant do that then you need to follow the insulation techs. he gives to help keep it as hot as possible. The first tank I tried my water got cold and the tank turned purple... then I never could get it to go black. Figured Id give it one more shot since I had a spare tank and actually read how important the hot water was and it worked amazing.

Looks even better now that its been wet sanded with 2000 grit sand paper, heat gunned to smooth, and buffed, looks like a brand new tank.

Went out and bought the dye but they only had two liquid and one powder, the liquid is supposed to be good for 6 gal per bottle so I think it should be fine, We'll see in 24hrs????

Soaked the tank in hot water while I was boiling up some pots.

Posted Image

Started filling it with boiling water and screwed on a 1x6 to keep it submerged becase it floated no mater what.

Posted Image

Sealed it up and I'll check it in the morning, floor has radiant heat in it so it should stay somewhat warm.

Since the Miss's wasn't looking I washed some parts in the sink, hasn't gone above freezing here since Nov so it's tough to pressure wash anything outside.
If she catches me washing nice greasy parts in the kitchen sink I'm a dead man,oh crap here she comes...gotta go

I escaped the rath of the miss's and retreated back to the man cave....
Mounted up a nice clean airbox and added a little "custom" grip tape on the frame.

I think most of us are in the same boat when it comes to washing parts in the kitchen sink, LOL!
I love the grip tape idea, that is awesome.
I don't like the look of the big aluminum covers so the grip tape is definitely what I'm going to do.
Thanks

I left the tank in the dye for about 18 hrs and it really wasn't turning black, I don't know if there was enough dye or not? So I bought another 4 boxes and boiled some more water so I'l let it sit over night again? I am guessing that it can't hurt to sit in it for another 24 hrs..... we'll see.

Yea the acid in the vinegar really helps the tank absorb the dye...
