General Engine Question

I am new here so I will do my best asking my question correctly. I was changing the oil on my 110cc chinese pit bike when I came across what appears to be a 2nd drain plug on the right side of the engine when facing it in the front.  It's near the foot peg.  When I unscrewed it, some oil type substance came out along with a long spring and a tiny cone like rubber plug.

Can someone explain what this 2nd drain plug is and its purpose?

UPDATE:  I was looking around on the and it appears to be the  cam chain tensioner push rod. All I did was unscrew the bolt. When I realized it was something else, I just pushed the spring back up and tightened it up. Will this cause any issues?

Cam chain tentionors stay locked in place on most bikes until you remove the whole assemble. As long as it did not loosen the chain when you releasted the spring you should be Ok. Fill it with oil and start it. If you hear alot of chain rattle turn it off. Your going to have to reset the cam Tentionor.

Isn't the tensioner on the cylinder, not in the engine case?

It's possible that there is a seperate area for tranny oil. I really don't have ANY experience with these smaller pit bike engines.. Sorry I wish I could help more..

Thanks Kurt!

When you say "fill it with oil" what do you mean?  Do you mean make sure the bike has oil? Or is there another place where I need to add oil?

Also, I have no experience in adjusting the cam chain tensioner. Do you have any information on how to do this on a 110cc chinese pit bike?

I think pic's would be a help here. Pit bikes are smaller than the reg. dirt bike and everything is different, that and this is a Chinies bike.

Take a pic's of the area you where working in and what bolts of pieces you remove and put back in.

the bolt with the spring behind it is the cam chain tentioner it adjust automatically just make sure the spring is in right then fill the engine with oil it should be ok

Yup, no cause for concern. No reason to add oil unless the level on the dip stick is low.

I just changed the top of the head on my 125cc thumpstar and it is alot harder to kick than usual please help me would it be the cam chain being to tight and how would you loosen it.

im having the same problem on my chinease 110cc pitbike, my cam chain is whining away and the tensioner popped out on me when i looked at it, got it all back together but do i need to adjust the tensioner anyhow its still noisy and im worried it might off come off somewhere else when i changed the piston? if some one could help please i dont want to split the engine down again
