Tranfering your plates should be no problem. All you need for inspection is headlight w/hi & low beam, tail/brake light & horn.

Well I got my official marching papers (finally....) and am hitting the road this weekend. I ran down to my DMV and was able to get both my bikes plated here in ID within 15 minutes with no inspection of any kind, gotta love this place :) . I am concerned as to how the plate transfer process works though. I am hoping that since it is officially street legal in ID that it will be nothing more than a trip to a VA DMV office and some money? Truth be told there isnt a single thing about either of my bikes that is street legal so I am hoping VA wont want to do their own inspection. Both bikes are owned outright and equipped with a street title in my name so I should be good right?

Anyone have any opinions on this?

Cant wait to get there and try some of your east side riding!

Hey good luck the SE part of the country is mighty beautiful in its own way. Enjoy!! :ride::ride::ride:

Couple of comments

301 = Brutal single track, rode there last august as a guest got beat up pretty bad.

Getting a tag should be no problem. you might not want to worry with the inspection, I hear some of the inspectors actually look for DOT tires. Don't know what the fine is for no inspection. When you get settled give me a shout, I know some good places

Well I should have known that last summer was going to be a huge "bust" for riding. New job was super demanding, 70+ hour weeks contantly..... But all of that garbage is behind me (for the most part) and I am back to a somewhat normal schedule :bonk: . I cant get into details without shedding a few tears but the plated KTM is gone but a newer one has taken its place and I am dying to ride it for the first time. I had shoulder surgery about 3 weeks ago so I am out till early April but that is just making me itch even more because now with both bike and time to go but the body holding me back! I am thinking that a club is in my future but I am having a hard time figuring out which would work best for my location. I have heard of a couple places that are supposedly real close to me, one is called "Eagle Bay" that is supposedly very close to F'burg but I cannot find any info on it. The other is Northern neck but I just cant see paying $25 every single time I want to ride. Thats $100 a day if I bring the family, not counting fuel, food, etc. Just seems crazy to me.

I would rather find a club/park that is nearby so I can drop in and ride when my schedule allows, but I am wondering if a club like "Washington Area Trail Riders" or "Central Virginia Trail Riders" might be just as fun. To me riding has always been just as much about the friends and comradery as it is about the actual seat time. I am assuming these clubs typically get together at public venues like Taskers and such? Which club would be better suited for my location in Fredericksburg?

I am definitely joining a club/park this year, heck I will do it right now with the right advice. I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO LET THIS SEASON PASS ME BY!
Thanks in advance guys!

Well I just googled Buckingham County VA which is where the Central Virginia Trail Riders advertise there riding area as being from. Google maps claims about 2.5 hours from my house. Maybe the Washington Area Trail Riders is the way to go. Any members that can comment?

Hey, I work in F-burg and live up by Warrenton. I just joined www.forpwc.com. (Family Off-Roaders of Prince William County) They have club land in Nokesville and Catlett. Which is less than an hour from F-burg. They have also entered into a agreement with the 301 club to take over their land. Let me know if you want more info...

Thanks for the heads up Riggy but I actually just bought the bike from a guy out of Virginia Beach so I am assuming it is jetted fairly close. I bought the bike without riding it (shoulder surgery.....) but he was a mature rider (61 years old) and the OEM hour meter read 14 hours. It reflects its hours. I do plan to jet for the area, what altitudes should I expect? In Idaho we could start at 3600' and ride to 9,000' in a day. Just wondering what to expect here. Thanks again!

Anybody have any info on the Eagle Bay area? I hear it is very close but I cant find any information on it. The guys at Fredericksburg Motorsports gave me a number to call (Don K.?) but I never heard anything back. Has anyone ever ridden there? With 301 merging with Prince william club I am leaning that way for sure, I just want to know all of my options before I pull the trigger.
Thanks!

I have emailed WATR for info but I wasnt sure if they were affiliated with Eagle Bay or not?

First off, Don K from Eagle Bay is a great guy. Took me out to the area, we walked around and he described all of it in great detail. Heck we even walked some of the trail so he could show me how tight the trail was. Perfect for me (literally 20-25 minutes from the house) and the family as they have a pretty cool little "grass track" for the boy to ride on. Since I cant ride til April due to the surgery it works out great for me because in the beginning of April the dues go down to $125 for the whole family. Try to find a better deal.....doubt it.

I'm in :bonk:

Thanks for all the help guys, as always.

Mind emailing me some info? Just picked up a KX250 after not riding for a few years and am looking for places to ride nearby. I'm in Spotsylvania, just south of Fredericksburg so would love to be able to ride without driving 2 hours. I work fri-sun so my riding will be limited to weekdays and its seems like the nearby clubs all ride on the weekends. Thanks Chad alwaysridinkx125@aol.com
