I was wondering how harmful it would be to shave the end of a piston ring with a file?

When recenlty installing the cylinder on my yz450f, I accidentally snagged the tip of a piston ring. This caused it to bend down slightly. I top end back on bt have not yet ran the bike...

I want to ride this weekend and was wondering if i could pull the top end and just shave the end of the ring to take the sharpness/ jagged edge off of it..

I dont minf replacing the rings, but wont be able to get a set in before this weekend...

Any thought? I know i shouldnt do it, but is it that big i a deal?

If you don't mind buying a new cylinder and piston (or worse), go ahead. Otherwise, absolutely do not try to repair the damaged oil ring.

They are the only ones of which you can bend the corners over.
