I own a 07 yz450 and dropped a valve, i recently got lucky and purchased a new 2009 yz 450 engine for cheaper then i could have fixed my used 07 engine. I am aware that this engine will fit in my bike, but i am not sure if the CDI is compatible, is it the same?? can i just connect all the electronics and start her up or do i need to change the CDI first??

The CDI is compatible. You may want to try both of them to see which one you prefer. The ignition advance mapping is slightly different between the two.
