Ahhw, go back to your stupid quads. The only thing those heavy ass things are good for is boat anchors.

Agreed. However, not so great for dunes....especially the 2nd gen. Smaller cooling fins made for some mad ping once they heated up.

Yeah, if you go out in the heat of the summer. But if you go out during riding season they tear it up really well :p

What usually is the case when someone says "3 wheelers are dangerous" is an opinion that was formulated after hearing of a trike death from their brothers friends cousins mothers grandpas friends son who was killed because he wasn't wearing a helmet, was drinking heavily, and was riding on the street- 3 things which don't matter how many wheels it's have- that's an impaired rider, and can't even handle his own car, let alone a high performance ATV.

Basically, they hear of horror stories (which TOTALLY happen more times on a 2 or 4 wheeler, FWIW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) about trikes and never want to go near them. I say they're being silly, and need to man up and learn the truth about things.

For those that think three wheelers are dangerous...you are probably right...they are too dangerous for you...that is why they make quads...for those who don't know how to ride trikes...for your own safety stay off of three wheelers...leave that to those who have the skills.

3 wheelers are not dangerous they just have to be well respected they are kinda like a pit bull treat the nice they dont bite but **** with them and not know what your doing you will lose a ankle  first 4 wheeler i drove was a blaster and i was like 13 hit the power band and in to a garage and that was the first atv i ever drove in my life then i got a 200s 3 wheeler for like 200 bucks and no breaks i know i was young and dumb i rode that thing to death only wrecked it once and it was wreck it or hit the car  but that kinda why you have to respect them

Dang, if I had the cash, I'd jump for that. A 350CC 2 stroke twin cylinder inside of a trike frame would be crazy insane :p (although I just noticed it's not that crazy powerful of a powerplant)

And what about my signature??

I haven't seen much of the 87 T3's. Infact, one just turned up recently in Spain, but otherwise, that and another one or two are the only one I know to exist.

the fact is that 3 wheelers are unstable. but, alot of things are unstable. the problem is that dumbass parents got there little kids trikes because the thought motorcycles were unstable. you would be surprised at how many people think that motorcycles are more dangerous then quads and trikes. dirtbikes are dynamically stable. 3 and 4 wheelers are statically stable (not much use when moving!!!!)

just because a bunch if idiots not wearing helmets who didnt know how to ride crashed and died, 3 wheelers got banned.

i personally wouldnt ride a trike, but just because something is dangerous, doesnt mean the anti fun agency can ban it!!

My dad ran a Honda dealership with my Grandpa in Iowa in the 80s. My brothers, cousins, and I grew up riding 3 wheelers right along with motorcycles. Did we spend our fair share of time with our legs wrapped around the rear axle? You bet. Trapped under one with the engine/exhaust burning a hole in the side of our helmet? Of course. I even got my leg wrapped, rolled the ATC, and was trapped with a inch to spare against an electric fence for half an hour until my mom realized she couldn't hear me riding.

We figured out how to ride em, rail them, and it made us better riders all the way around. It's a shame that Honda was raked over the coals for the three wheelers. It changed the company and the way they do business forever. My dad went to work for Honda right around the 3 wheeler witch hunts. There are people still working at Honda who were called into court rooms around the country and called baby killers.

When people piss and moan about how conservative Honda is you can thank the Ralph Nader, the CPSC, Barbara Walters, and trail/tort lawyers around the country.

One of these days I'm going to pick up an ATC250R for Glamis. As others have said, it's the ultimate sand machine.

Cousin had one of the early ATC250R models. He installed  flattrack rear tires,  increased the rear width with spacers on the rear hubs, changed sprockets for the smaller rear tires. Seems like we rode it all too often after a couple of beers, it was stable and very forgiving. That "put the foot down" defect still persisted though!  Ripped the rubber sole nearly completely off my awesome Converse canvas hi-top "ridin' boots"!  It would barrell roll very easily if you tried to hang on to a hi-side wash-out in a sandy corner at speed.
Nobody ever got injured by that machine, hours of good times though.

Many years later, a friend used a 250SX as a chassis donor and morphed a CR500R engine, extended swinger, and a bit of other custom parts into a truly DANGEROUS trike. He rode maybe 3 or 4 times and promptly traded it for a  clapped out Trans-Am!

Then there was the time we went to the indoor ice races, mostly retired flattrack bikes, and a class for the quads, and one lunatic in the "open" class with a 3-wheeler sporting a KZ650 4cylinder. He couldn't get it to turn without a handfull of throttle, all the quads passed him entering the corner, about midpoint, the thing would find its groove and shoot around the outside passing everything - including the next corner. Great fun to watch, might be terrifiyng/ fun to be the pilot.

You can easily make it more into a death trap by fitting a nicely tuned CR500 engine but thats for people who balls are made of tank armor.
