Yesterday my buddy sheared his shift shaft off. I've searched the replacement procedure on here and it sounds pretty straight forward, but all of the searched threads are in regards to older bikes, '06 & older.

On the '08 can it still be done from the clutch side case cover w/o splitting the cases ? The shaft does not appear to have any bends, it sheared off flush with the seal. It (the shaft) was probably cracked/twisted already as he landed on the shifter and broke it off a few weeks ago.
