I would assume volume...?

Even though this could be the case would you say that $7400 for a 2011 YZ450 SE is a dam good price for those who are interested in buying a bike now

i agree with that. its insane in the first place that its 8000$ for a dirt bike!!

True. What's worst is NY state tax and your suppose to register in NY as well. So with that being said if you pay MSRP price for the bike and add those fees you pretty much will pay over 9K

The trouble is that there's almost no way to tell, so many credits get moved back and forth. It's an extremely and very deliberately complicated system designed expressly to keep the customer from ever knowing the true cost of the vehicle to the dealer. One thing for certain, no dealer ever pays "invoice price". And yes, some dealers pay a lot less than others.

This will give you a little insight, but it's even more complex than this at a motorcycle dealer, where a dealer may get special allowances for carrying "leftover" models and stuff like that:

for an 8k bike no dealer cost is 7300........those invoices they show you sometimes is a joke, i say you really expect me to believe that this is an actual invoice on what you paid.......pretty easy to make up a document

buddy just sold his 09 leftover he bought in 2010 for 3500, going with him tomorrow to pick up an 11. 7000 plus 165 for freight/setup and then the dreaded tax because he's financing. Whats wild is that the kawi was bike of the year this year in the 450 shoot outs and you can get them for 6199 at this same dealer he's buying his yammy from. They have the new kawi 250f's for 5699. I saw a dealer online blowing out kawi 450's for like 6k no freight or setup. You'd think that yammy woudl try and compete with other brands (kawi in perticular) rebate wise. Suzuki's 450 is like 8 grand everywhere if you can even find one, and hondas like 6599...

Yea I saw the Kawi 2011 450's were cheaper than Yama's. What's the tax rate in Texas or what will be your buddies OTD price. My buddy financed his bike as well and was charged $7400 OTD. I'm guessing this is a great price for a 2011 but no one has really confirmed this yet, lol

7348 IS dealer cost on a 2011 YZ450f my friend ! I would agree that dealer may show alot of ppl " documents " ...... but, since the dealer is my brother , and ive been in touch with Yamaha myself as the dealer i think i know what im speaking about . That said, you being in Cali where thousands more mx bikes are sold.....a so cal dealer may get a slightly better price IF they order many bikes at once.
